Week of March 4, 2019

5th grade:
This weeks, students will be diving into fractions. We took the pre-test last week and students will be in two different groups depending on their pre-knowledge. 
 
6th grade:
Students will continue their algebra unit. This week, the focus will be on solving two-step equations and algebraic word problems. 
 Students will have an algebra quiz on Thursday, March 14 (Date changed from March 11th).

Week of February 25, 2019- Math

5th grade standards: Students will begin the week with a in class study day in preparation for their End of Unit Assessment, scheduled for Tuesday. Following Tuesday, students will begin the next unit: fractions.
 
6th grade standards: Students will be working with substitution in algebra and solving two step equations this week. 

Division Classwork- Remainders Group

Students in the long division (with remainders) group completed 4 problems and checked 4 problems from this page. If you are missing this assignment, please create 4 long division problems with 3-4 digit dividends and 1-2 digit divisors. Solve them, then check them using the attached page. 

6th Grade Standards Group- 2/18/19

This week, students will work on order of operations, the distributive property, and substitution. Students will have a quiz on Monday, March 11.

5th Grade Long Division Study Guide

Study the following:
  • Long division (1 or 2 digit divisors)
  • Division with remainders
  • Decimal division
  • Checking your division work through multiplication
  • Word problems- answer in a complete sentence
  • Error analysis- Explain the error and how to solve it correctly
  • Vocabulary- divisor, quotient, dividend, remainder
