Week of May 28, 2019- Math

This week students will be working on their student portfolios. When they complete this, they will continue working on their real-world coordinate geometry problems.

Week of May 20, 2019

Students are continuing their geometry studies. We will start the week by learning to decompose shapes into familiar shapes in order to find area and perimeter. Then, students will work with coordinate planes to solve problems.

Week of May 12, 2019- Math

This week, students will continue learning about geometry. 5th grade standards students will be focusing on volume of a rectangular prism. 6th grade standards students will be focusing on the area of a triangle and the volume of triangular prisms.

Week of May 6, 2019- Math

This week, students will be using literacy and math class time to take the end of year MAP test. On Friday, students will have normal classes and will be completing a math workshop.

Grades are updated and current. Students may have work time after testing this week, which would be a great time to catch up on missing assignments. Please encourage them to do so if needed.

Week of 4/29/19- Math

5th Grade- Students will complete their fractions post-test. Then, we will begin our unit in geometry where students will review perimeter and area, explore volume with blocks, and categorize 3-D shapes. The 5th grade geometry focus is volume of rectangular prisms with whole number edges.

6th Grade- Students will complete their investigation into data displays. Then, we will begin our unit in geometry. The 6th grade geometry focus is volume of rectangular prisms with fractional edges.

Week of April 22, 2019

5th Grade Standards Students- Students will be multiplying fractions this week. As such, they both Clue #2 and Clue #5 are due by Friday. Students will have a fractions post-test on Friday.

6th Grade Standards Students- Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing algebra concepts in preparation for their end of unit test on Wednesday. The remainder of the week will be spent investigating statistical graphs (number line, dot plots, histogram, and box plots) and measurements of data centers (mean, median, range, mode).

Week of April 15, 2019

Students will begin this week with a mystery Monday math workshop. During the remainder of the week, students who are studying 5th grade standards will continue their work with manipulating fractions. As such, they will be finishing the remaining three clues in order to solve the math mystery of The Missing Scepter. Students who are studying 6th grade standards will be finishing up their algebra unit.

Week of April 8, 2019- Math

This week, students will have math class on Monday and Friday. Students will be working on a Danni The Donut math review craft. Students will be taking the CMAS test on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Week(s) of Spring Break- 3/21 to 4/7

We have made it to Spring Break!
I know my math students and they will continue to do math over the break. As such, I have assigned a Prodigy assignment for them to play. This assignment is optional. 5th grade standard students will continue to work on long division while 6th grade standard students will continue to work on inequalities. And guess what? If you play for 5 minutes everyday, you will complete the assignment as it totals 90 minutes. Have fun! And I will see you on Monday, April 8.

Week of March 18, 2019- Math

Due to CMAS testing, students will not have math this week.

Reminder: Conferences are Thursday and Friday which means there is no school on Thursday or Friday. Spring Break is next week. Enjoy!
