Play on the hand drums/marimbas
-on drums, we will practice eighth notes, quarter notes, and half notes
-on the marimbas, we will practice singing the notes as we play them

1/2 Music Week of 12/2/19
This week, students will be playing more Rhythm Basketball with more complex rhythms. They will also play on hand drums, learning some rhythms by rote.
Students will also play marimbas, learning 2-3 songs by reading the music.
They will begin by counting and clapping the rhythms, then using their fingers to find the notes, then playing with mallets together as a class.
1/2 Music Week of 11/18/19
This week, students will be reviewing eighth notes and quarter notes while on hand drums. They will be recognizing rhythmic patterns and counting them with a beat.
They will also be on marimbas for a few days, learning how to recognize melodic patterns.
1/2 Music week of 11/4/19
This week, students will play rhythm basketball with more complex rhythmic patterns which include half notes and rests.
They will also be reviewing marimba songs.
1/2 Music Week of 10/28/19
This week, students will continue playing songs on the marimbas.
They will practice rhythms with Rhythm Basketball and will apply those to songs.
Hot Cross Buns and Twinkle, Twinkle are the two they'll learn.
Music 1/2 Week of 10/21/19
This week, students will continue to learn singing and dancing while focusing on movement in time.
They will also learn more rhythms and apply them to rhythm basketball.
1/2 Music Week of 10/14/19
This week, students will be learning a few songs to sing and dance.
They will also begin playing on marimbas and getting used to playing back and forth.
Rhythm Basketball will be introduced as well.
1/2 Music Week of 9/16/19
This week, students will be playing rhythm basketball and will review how to read and perform short rhythmic excerpts.
We will continue to sing and dance every day and will learn what sound is and how we hear.
