This week, students will play marimbas and drums. Using the instruments to play rhythmic and melodic patterns.

 

They will also be playing Rhythm Basketball. 

This is the first week of the new rotation in music.  

 

Students will be learning some rules of the music room, along with a few songs, some time on drums, and learning how to read rhythms (Quarter notes and eighth notes).

 

 

This week students will be learning more about the marimbas including technique, alternating hands, and arpeggios.

 

They will also be playing Rhythm Basketball.

This week, students will be playing rhythm basketball.  They will clap and count increasingly difficult rhythms, synthesizing the rhythmic patterns as they recognize them.

 

They will also begin marimbas and reading simple rhythms on two notes.

This week the students will learn about eighth notes and quarter note rests.

 

We call them "ti-tis" and "shh".

 

They will also sing "Ants Go Marching" and add drums, implementing dynamics and tempo change.

This week, students will continue to learn songs to sing and dance to.  They will also be working with rhythms on the hand drums, playing by rote, and learning to count and clap rhythms.

 

We will begin Rhythm Basketball this week as they get better at reading and recognizing rhythms.
