Week of November 26, 2018- Science

This week, students will be learning about Fossils and Relative Time. During this lesson, students will be able to observe and eat an edible rock. Students will take "Quiz #2: Fossils" on Wednesday regarding the information learned. The remainder of the week will focus on rock formations, earth forces, and tectonic plates. Depending on the time, students may be assigned "Quiz #3: Earth Forces and Plates" on Friday or on the following Monday.

Also, I realized that I had not posted the previous class presentations. I will be posting these this week, along with new presentations as students are introduced to them so that parents can see what students are studying.

Week of November 12, 2018

No School on Monday!

Students will continue their investigation of sedimentary rock and rock formation. To begin, students will create a sedimentary rock and observe it for two days. They will have a short quiz on Wednesday. We will finish the week by creating fossilized models.

Week of November 5, 2018- Science

We are beginning the next unit in our scientific investigation: How the Earth Changes. We will begin by watching the video, "How the Earth Was Made." We will then move into discussing the structure of the Earth and rock layers. Students will have a quiz on Friday regarding Rock Layers. Please see posted study guide for the entire unit.

Week of October 29, 2018- Science

Students will complete the Waves Unit this week. We will continue to work on vocabulary that is specific to waves such as transverse waves, longitudinal waves, amplitude, and frequency.

Week of October 22, 2018- Science

This week, students will be exploring the waves of sound and light. Students will complete two experiments to explore how sound feels and travels.

Week of October 15, 2018- Science

Students will be investigating waves of sound by competing the Mystery Science Waves of Sound exploration and activities.

Week of 9/24/18- Science

This week, students will complete their structures of organisms experiments. We will meet as a class to discuss what was learned by doing these experiments. Students will receive a grade based on their participation in this discussion.

Week of 9/10/18- Science Update

Last week, students completed question and answer sheets in order to gain background knowledge regarding the experiments we will be completing this week. Students will conduct three experiments in order to explore the internal structures of mammals, birds, and leaves.
