Dear Westgate Families,
As the seasons change and the air grows crisp, November brings a perfect opportunity to reflect on gratitude - our Advocacy theme for the month. Across all grade levels, students will spend time exploring what it means to be thankful, how to express appreciation, and how gratitude strengthens our community.

Here are some of the ways our students can engage with this month’s theme at home:

Grades K–2: Students can create “Gratitude Gardens,” adding a flower each day with something or someone they are thankful for. Practice saying “thank you” in new and creative ways through songs, drawings, and short notes.

Grades 3–5: Students can keep daily “Gratitude Journals” and share how gratitude can change our perspectives. Write thank-you letters to people in your community who make a difference.

Grades 6–8: Middle school students can explore gratitude through storytelling, mindfulness, and service. Some activities include gratitude walks, community recognition projects, and group reflections on how appreciation can strengthen teams and friendships.

High School: Students can focus on gratitude in action, connecting appreciation to leadership and service. Write gratitude reflections, create digital gratitude boards, and highlight friends and teachers who exemplify kindness and generosity.

As we practice gratitude throughout the month, we also look forward to the 4th Annual Westgate Craft Fair on Saturday, November 29, hosted at Peak Martial Arts (across Washington Street from Westgate). Thank you to Peak Martial Arts for generously allowing us to use their space for this wonderful celebration of creativity and connection!

November also marks the start of Enrollment Season! Our first Future Family Night will take place on Thursday, November 6at 6:30 PM. We encourage you to share the Westgate Difference with family and friends who are looking for a school that:
- Uses Gifted Educational Best Practices to support every learner
- Offers No Homework in grades K–6 to prioritize balance and family time
- Provides High School Concurrent Enrollment, where students can earn an Associate’s Degree in four years
- Integrates Environmental Education and Service Learning for all students
- Includes daily Advocacy classes to build social-emotional skills and connection
- Begins each day in Circle, ensuring every student is seen and heard

We are deeply grateful for our wonderful community - for your partnership, support, and the many ways you embody the spirit of gratitude each and every day.

With appreciation,
Sharon Collins
