ALONG THE WIRE
----------------------------------
Congratulations!!
  • One of our very own 7/8 students became a published                          Poet at Westgate
    poet recently!
  • His efforts began last year when he was in Mr. McGinnis'
    class.
  • Over the summer, they were notified his poem had been
    selected
and just recently, both the student and Mr. McGinnis
    received copies of the book.
  • Well done!  You're hard work paid off!

Kindness Week 2024
  • Kindness week is fast approaching!
  • Please do not buy any Valentine's Day cards, gifts, or treats/candy for your student's classroom.  Students will spend February 14th appreciating their community.  Find out more information here.
  • Our theme for this year is BEE Kind!
  • Did you know that Westgate has beehives?  That's right!  But, students are rarely able to interact with the bees due to a lack of safety equipment.
  • Please consider donating to help us get the                                   QR Code Beekeeper
safety gear we need!  Our goal is $2,000.
  • Anyone who donates will be entered into a
raffle to win a jar of honey from our bees.
10 winners will be drawn and notified on 2/20.
  • Scan the QR code to make a donation, or drop off
cash or check in the front office vestibule.

Join Ms. Collins at Coffee & Conversations
  • Mark your calendars!  Ms. Sharon Collins, our Executive Director, will be meeting with parents on March 13 from 8:15 - 9 am.
  • Topics will include next year's school calendar . . . changes have been made!  And, she'll be sharing information on both PSAT and CMAS testing.
  • Bring your questions along!

Events Committee and Kindness Week
  • Kindness Week is February 12 - 15.  Along with the fun we do for the students, all week long we like to spoil our faculty!  Sticking to our theme of BEE KIND.
  • There will be a snack cart stocked throughout the week so our Busy Bee faculty can grab a pick-me-up.
  • You can help make the staff bathrooms unBEElieveable with nice soaps and other luxury items.
  • On Tuesday staff will be treated to homemade breakfast burritos.
  • Wednesday parents will be taking the wheel of carline (you must attend mandatory safety training on Friday at 3:30). Both AM and PM shifts are available!  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050B49AAAE23A2F49-47678957-kindness#/
  •  And Thursday morning flowers will be available for purchase.  $1 per stem while supplies last.  Gift them to your favorite teacher, admin, para, or school nurse!
  • Do you still want to help out but short on time?  Please consider donating, cash or check in the white lock box in the front vestibule.  Or, online through the payment portal using the "Westgate Events" item.

Kinder 101 Virtual Information Night - RSVP Now!
  • Kinder 101 Information Night will be held on February 8, 2024, from 6 - 7 pm, RSVP here.
  • Kindergarten is foundational and choosing the right one for your student can be stressful, especially when you don't know what to take into consideration.
  • Members of the Westgate staff who are experienced in parenting Kindergartners as well as subject matter experts in education will lead this Kindergarten 101 presentation.
  • This presentation is not Westgate-specific but will feature different schools and programs in the area.

CMAS Testing is coming up!
  • Please note that CMAS testing begins on Tuesday, April 9.
  • Grades 5, 8, and 11 will begin with science testing on April 9 - 12.
Grades 3 - 8 will begin (or continue) their CMAS testing on April 16 - 18 and then again on April 23 - 25.
  • High schoolers will be doing SAT and PSAT testing starting on April 17 - 19
  • It is imperative to have your students attend school on their scheduled CMAS testing dates.  CMAS scores allow us to measure the effectiveness of our curriculum and see how we stack against other schools in the state and nationally.
