Weekly Update - Sept. 28 - Oct. 2

Monday 

-Start compiling city research into a presentation – Sway, Powerpoint, etc. 

Tuesday 

-Meet me on Zoom for our lesson: Project Rubric & Expectations 

-Continue working on project, add pictures (NOT as the background – I want to be able to read your text!) 

Wednesday 

-Finish and submit trip project 

-Post project in Teams so classmates and check out your work 

Weekly Update - Sept. 21-25

Hey everyone! Here is a daily checklist to help keep focused, and on track! 

Remember our Zoom meetings are Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30-10 am. You can find the password on our class Team

Monday: 

-Make sure all maps and globes assignments including are done  

-Make sure you have location, place, and region notes complete - if you got less than a 3, be sure to redo to improve them!

Tuesday: 

-Meet me in on Zoom for our Movement Lesson 

-Begin researching Movement for your city and add to your notes 

Wednesday: 

-Finish researching Movement for your city and add to your note catcher- Make sure to push turn in for the assignment on our SS team 

-Last chance to turn in any work due before today!

Thursday: 

-Meet me in on Zoom for our Human Environment Interaction Lesson 

-Begin/finish researching H.E.I. for your city and add to your note catcher - Make sure to push turn in for the assignment on our SS team (due today)

Friday: 

-Start making your presentation- you can use sway, PowerPoint, make a brochure on word, etc.

Unit: Geography 

Topic: 5 Themes of Geography 

This week we will learn more about the 5 Themes of Geography and apply it by planning an imaginary trip. 

Specific assignment details can be found in MS Teams and the Class OneNote.

-On your own complete the Maps & Globes Quiz (without your notes) 

Tuesday: 

-Meet me on Zoom for lesson; Virtual Field Trip! (or watch afterwards if you can’t join us) 

-Start working on Field trip questions. Also start brainstorming trip planning project ideas- think of which CITY you want to visit and why. 

Wednesday: 

-Finish and turn in Field trip questions under Assignments. 

-Go to Chat channel and answer the trip brainstorming question

Thursday: 

-Meet me on Zoom for lesson; Location! The first of the five themes of geography that we will be studying this quarter. 

-Start working on “location” notes for the city you’re planning a trip to, Turn in when done in Assignments. (must be done by Tuesday 9/8 when we have our next lesson). 

Friday: *No School, but maybe a good catch up day!

-Meet me on Zoom for lesson; Maps and Globes Part 1.  Come prepared with your questions from yesterday, a notebook, and writing utensil.

-Start working on Assignment 1: Globes

Wednesday:

-Finish and turn in Assignment 1: Globes

Thursday:

-Meet me on Zoom for lesson; Maps and Globes Part 2

-Start working on Assignment 2: Map Practice

Friday:

-Finish and turn in Assignment 2: Map Practice 

Weekly Update - Aug. 17-21

If you can, please go into Teams and look around, answer the getting to know you questions, and respond appropriately to your classmates.

Play the sorting game to see what strands and topics there are for Social Studies. Then answer the discussion topic: "What is Social Studies?" located in our Team's chat channel.

We will be going over how to access Microsoft Teams, OneNote, and the Assignments in Teams during this week. Videos will be added to my Advocacy Page showing you how to access these, as well.

Weekly Update - Aug. 17-21

Reading:

No reading assignments this week.  Be prepared to start on Monday, August 24.

Writing:

This week, I am asking students to complete a preliminary writing sample.  The prompt can be found and completed in OneNote.  This piece of writing is something we will be working with all quarter long as we practice various writing skills.
