Spanish II

Course Description

In Spanish 2 students will continue through intermediate Spanish reading, writing, and speaking. We will learn vocabulary about common real-life situations, and will learn to communicate basic phrases in the target language using present and past tense grammar by the end of the year.

In Spanish class we will work on classwork based on textbooks and workbooks, we will practice speaking activities using props, we will listen to and sing songs to practice and for memorization, and we will practice vocabulary and grammar by playing classroom games. We will create presentational projects that demonstrate knowledge and skill using role-playing, props, and virtual touring. We will learn about other cultures by hearing about what it is like to live in other countries and by learning about and making authentic crafts. Student learning will be assessed by testing listening, reading, writing, conversational speaking, and presenting.

Hello,

The Spanish II Final Exam will be on Tuesday December 17th from 1:00-3:00. By use of a form, you will know your vocabulary and grammar scores immediately.

10th Grade Spanish II December 9th to 13th, 2019

This week we will prepare for final exams during classes by continuing the following:

All makeup assignments and corrections to classwork are due by December 11th at 3:30 p.m.

Reviewing past unit quizzes to be sure everyone is clear about how to complete needed tasks.

Practicing together using online practice programs: Quizlet, Kahoot, Conjuguemos.

Practicing conversations that are similar to those that will appear in the final exam.

Also, this week there will be some time where you will be in other classes and given time to practice and prepare for finals. If Spanish is not your strongest subject, I encourage you to look over my materials posted on this page and the onenote for our class and to practice using the methods above.

These are the materials I will provide online as we prepare for final exams:

~Copies and in-class review of previous unit tests. I will give the most recent ones out as soon as the chance to re-take them (Thursday) closes.

~English and Spanish vocabulary lists. Those are also available in the digital textbook on https://my.hrw.com/ Your username is your email address and the password is @Westgate20.

~Pictures of situations from the unit that we will use to practice, and about which you will be expected to write complete sentences.

~Grammar review pages with charts and explanation of grammar concepts.

I will release all these review items at the end of this week since some students will want to re-take the unit quizzes we took the week before Thanksgiving break.

Quizzes / Retakes

Greetings! During our last conferences, several parents asked me to give extra notice about when quizzes are happening in my class. We recently took a unit quiz with four parts: Vocabulary, Grammar, Writing, and Listening. Take a moment to look over Infinite Campus to see how your child performed. I will allow makeups of all these when we return from break.

Once makeups are done, we will go over the quizzes in class, and those reviewed quizzes will be one of our study sources for final exams in my classes. Thanks!

10th Grade Spanish II the week of November 4th to 8th, 2019

Because the weather caused us to miss a morning, an afternoon, and a whole day, we didn’t get a chance to do much of what was planned for last week, so the plan looks much the same.

Also, in an effort to align with all the high school teachers, I will only allow makeup of one missed daily work assignment per unit starting now.
