Spanish II

Course Description

In Spanish 2 students will continue through intermediate Spanish reading, writing, and speaking. We will learn vocabulary about common real-life situations, and will learn to communicate basic phrases in the target language using present and past tense grammar by the end of the year.

In Spanish class we will work on classwork based on textbooks and workbooks, we will practice speaking activities using props, we will listen to and sing songs to practice and for memorization, and we will practice vocabulary and grammar by playing classroom games. We will create presentational projects that demonstrate knowledge and skill using role-playing, props, and virtual touring. We will learn about other cultures by hearing about what it is like to live in other countries and by learning about and making authentic crafts. Student learning will be assessed by testing listening, reading, writing, conversational speaking, and presenting.

4/6/20 Lesson

Greetings all! Welcome back. Be sure to read this before you view any of the videos, as it will give you a preview of what I will be going over there.

For Spanish class, we will be working on many of the same kind of assignments as before, but some things (mostly conversations) will need to be done a little differently. Here is a rundown of what I will ask of you every week:

Vocabulary: Workbook pages on Onenote, Quizlet sets.

Right now, I have posted a new set in the quizlet program called, "S23 Libros."

Grammar and Writing: Onenote, Forms, Practice, Quizlet sets.

Speaking: Recorded conversations alone or with peers uploaded to onenote.

Presenting: Ongoing work on projects. We will present the projects through video recording or (optional) live on zoom.

Every day I will post a new task in the one note, along with a video tutorial.

You have the whole week to work on all of the assignments for the week, and they are due at Midnight on Friday.

Right now, I have scheduled one live zoom meeting for Spanish II on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. That morning I will email you the code and password. The class meetings could change.

Grades: I am posting the grades for the activities we completed the last three days before spring break tomorrow Tuesday, April 7th. Be sure to look that over on this site and complete those for that grade.

Be sure to have a look at the High School Master Meeting Schedule on the Advocacy page so you know when zoom meetings happen for each class and office hours for teachers. Just a reminder that you must use your first and last name to participate in live zoom meetings.

My office hours, for asking me questions about class, are on Monday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. I already sent you the code and password for that one. The office hours will always be the same for each teacher.

3-18-20 Lesson

Practice: Go to the quizlet set ‘S23 Libros’ and complete a round of ‘Match.’ I will see evidence of this in my tracking.

Next, go to conjuguemos.com, click Spanish, use without account, #2 present tense regular, and complete a round of one of the single player games. When you reach the end, take a screenshot or a picture of it and post it in onenote with today’s date. Next, complete a game using #9 Preterit tense regular and post the screenshot of that one.

Project work time: Right now we are on schedule to be working on the next phase of the project, which is to create the power point that you will show. If it turns out that we will need to do this remotely, I could ask you questions over the phone or over a video chat about it as you present it. Be prepared to answer: How did you start doing this? Who do you do this with? Where do you do this? Why do you like it?

3-17-20 Lesson

Review: Open the “Preterit” power point. Ask yourself the questions as you go along, “What does it mean?”

Writing activity: Go to www.wheeldecide.com and make a wheel with the pronouns: yo, tu, el, ella, usted, nosotros, ellos, ellas, ustedes.

Open the “Places” quizlet set.

Write a sentence with these components:

Pronoun + ir + a + place

Example               Yo           fui      a    el banco.

Next, write a second sentence using the preterit tense about what they did there.

Example               En           el banco               yo deposité        un cheque.

Now, repeat the same procedure to write six more sentences using different pronouns, conjugation, and places, eight in all. Write these in your onenote with the label “Lesson 3-17-20.”

I am posting a video tutorial of how to do this. Make sure you have opened all the windows and files before you watch it.

3-16-20 Lesson

Hello Spanish II

3-16-20

For today, the warmup is to look over the vocabulary list we have so far, and find a photo of a vocabulary word that contains the first letter of your first name and post it to your warmups tab in onenote. Be sure to include the link to the website where you found it.

For today’s classwork, I created a set called “S23 Libros” in the quizlet program and your assignment is to complete ‘learn’ and ‘test’ for this set.

Be sure to keep checking your email during this time, as there could be something in your inbox that is personalized to you.
