Week 09/16 - 09/20

Geometry
Last Week: In 11th grade, we began learning to find circumcenters of triangles using protractors and coordinates. In 10th grade, we used our knowledge of perpendicular lines to find the shortest distances from points to lines.

This Week: In 11th grade, we will solve word problems using circumcenters and begin our Q1 project -- creating our own circumcenter problems. In 10th grade, we will begin our work with circumcenters, solving them using protractors and coordinates.

Due by the end of the week: Work from the Sub (11th: Circumcenter paper, 10th: 2-Step Equations paper)

Precalculus
Last Week: In 11th grade, we discovered and practiced solving triangles using the Law of Cosines. In 10th grade, we learned to convert coordinates between Cartesian and Polar form using the basic trigonometric functions.

This Week: In 11th grade, we will continue practicing with the Law of Cosines. In 10th grade, we will continue practicing with Cartesian and Polar coordinates and begin learning about angles of elevation and angles of depression.

Due by the end of the week: Work from the Sub (11th: Law of Cosines paper, 10th: 2-Step Equations paper)

Week 09/03 - 09/06

Geometry
Last Week: We learned to graph perpendicular lines and used this information to find the shortest distance from a point to a line.

This Week: We will finish our work with perpendicular lines before moving on to circumcenters.

Due by the end of the week:
11th: Point to Line practice (blue sheet)
10th: Perpendicular line practice (purple sheet)

PreCalc
Last Week:
11: We learned about the law of sines and its uses in trigonometry.
9: We practiced using sine, cosine, and tangent to solve for missing angles and took a quiz.

This Week:
11: We will finish our work with the law of sines before moving on to the law of cosines.
10: We will use our knowledge of the three basic trig functions in real-world scenarios.

Due by the end of the week:
11: Law of Sines practice (two problems)
10: Trig Functions practice

Week 08/25 - 08/28

Geometry
Last Week: We began wrapping up our work with angles.

This Week: We will practice creating equations for parallel and perpendicular lines as we prepare to find circumcenters.

Due by the end of the week: Angles Practice sheet

Precalculus
Last Week: 11th grade practiced finding the areas of triangles using trigonometry. 10th grade learned to use the three basic trig functions (sin, cos, tan) to find missing triangle side measurements.

This Week: 11th grade will learn to use the Law of Sines, while 10th grade will learn to use the three basic trig functions to find missing triangle angle measurements.

Due by the end of the week: 11: Triangle Trig Areas sheet; 10: Trig and Sides

Week 08/19 - 08/23

Geometry
Last Week: We learned to use the midpoint and distance formulas to better understand lines and line segments. We also began working with different types of angles such as complementary, supplementary, vertical, and adjacent.

This Week: We will continue our work with angles, combining algebra and geometry to solve for missing amounts.

Due by the end of the week: Midpoint and Distance practice

Precalculus
Last Week: The Junior class learned to solve problems using angles of elevation and depression while the Sophomore class learned to solve missing values in triangles using the Sine trigonometric function.

This Week: Juniors will learn to solve for areas and non-right triangles using trigonometry while Sophomores learn to solve for missing values in triangles using the Cosine and Tangent trigonometric functions.

Due by the end of the week:
Juniors: Angles of Elevation and Depression sheet
Sophomores: None
