Week 02/03 - 02/07

Last Week: We learned to work with conjugates and imaginary numbers, both separately and together.

This Week: We will continue our work with imaginary numbers. We will also try a section of the SAT math test (calculator and no calculator)

Due by the end of the week: None

Week 01/27 - 01/31

Last Week: Juniors learned to solve difficult fractions using conjugates and began working with imaginary numbers. Sophomores learned to use radicals and conjugates to solve and simplify problems.

This Week: Juniors will combine their knowledge of conjugates and imaginary numbers to solve complex problems. Sophomores will learn to solve difficult fractions using conjugates and begin working with imaginary numbers.

Due by the end of the week: Juniors: None. Sophomores: Simplifying Conjugates sheet

Week 01/21 - 01/24

Last Week: We reviewed math with radicals and began learning to find and use conjugates to simplify equations with radicals.

This Week: We will continue our work with radicals and learn to solve functions using the imaginary number, i.

Due by the end of the week: Conjugates Review 1

Week 01/13 - 01/17

Last Week: Students enjoyed a great time not being at school.

This Week: Juniors will be reviewing the final and learning to use conjugates to solve equations involving radicals in inconvenient places. Sophomores will only meet Friday of this week. We will review the final that day.

Due from last week: None!

Week 12/09 - 12/13

Last Week: Students practiced finding arcs on circles, graphing circles, and completing the square to put equations for circles in standard form.

This Week: Students will conclude their work with completing the square and begin reviewing for the final.

Due by the end of the week: Arc sheet, Graphing Circles sheet

Weekly Update 11/18 - 11/22

Last Week: We took a quiz over areas, complex areas, and special triangles. We then learned to solve for the surface areas of pyramids.

This Week: We will learn to solve for the surface areas and volumes of cylinders and cones. We will quiz over these by the end of the week.

Due by the end of the week: Pyramid Surface Area sheet

Weekly Update 11/12 - 11/15

Last Week: We practiced solving missing sides in triangles using special triangles. We then reviewed for a quiz over areas, sectors, and special triangles. Juniors took their quiz last week, Sophomores will take theirs this week.

This Week: We will learn to find surface areas of pyramids (all types) and cones. Sophomores will also take their quiz.

Due by the end of the week: Special Triangles practice problems (5 on each side)

Weekly Update 11/04 - 11/08

Last Week: Between weather, Halloween, and Hogwarts, we simply practiced finding areas of basic shapes.

This Week: We will use simple areas in order to find more complex ones (shapes where multiple area formulas are needed). We will also learn to solve angles using 30-60-90 triangles and 45-45-90 triangles.

Due by the end of the week: None

Weekly Update 10/28 - 11/01

Last Week: We learned to find the areas of rhombii, trapezoids, and circle sectors.

This Week: We will combine what we know about areas to find the areas of complex shapes before moving on to volume.

Due by the end of the week: Area sheet, Sector sheet

Weekly Update 10/21 - 10/25

Last Week: Juniors learned about centroids and took a pretest over surface area and volume. We began breaking apart 3-D solids into geometric nets. Sophomores learned to solve for centroids of triangles.

This Week: In both classes, we will solve for complex areas in order to begin finding surface areas and volumes of complex shapes.

Due from Last Week: Juniors: 3D Nets practice. Sophomores: Centroid problem (completed in class)
