5/6 Music Week of 10/14/19

This week, students will begin guitars by learning how to hold and transport them.
 
They will begin the three "easy" chords Em, G, and C and strumming a few patterns.

5/6 Music Week of 9/16/19

This week, students will be working on 3 chords, G, C, and E minor. 
 
They will test on these three chords by Thursday.
 
They will be required to play all 3 chords when prompted. 
 
They will also be playing Rhythm Basketball. 

5/6 Music week of 9/9/19

Students will begin Don’t Worry, Be Happy this week. 
 
They will learn A minor, G Major, and C Major chords, then they will add strumming patterns and practice switching the chords in rhythm.

5/6 Music Week of 9/3/19

Students will begin guitars this first week of music. 
They will learn:
1. How to hold/transport the guitar
2. 3 easy 1-finger chords (G, Em, and C)
3. How to strum two rhythms
 
These are the building blocks to learning a song and performing it in small groups.

Music 5/6 Week of 8/26/19

This week students will continue playing Don't Worry, Be Happy.  They have been playing in groups and this week they add a marimba part to the guitar and vocals.
 

Music 5/6 Week of 8/19/19

This week, students will begin to learn Don't Worry, Be Happy using chords Am, C, and G.
 
They will learn the strum pattern and practice switching chords in rhythm.
 
We will add drums and singing at the end of the week.

Music 5/6 Week of 8/12/19

This week, students will continue to play guitar, working on G, C, and Em chords.  So far, they have learned the easy version of each chord and they will keep working with "Jamzone" for kids in order to get strumming and chord switching down.
