Hello everyone!

5/6 Music Week of 3/2/20

This week, students will begin "Ah, Poor Bird"
 
They will work on singing, posture, and doing a round.
 
Students will also be learning how to tune the strings of the guitar, beginning each class with practicing this skill.
 
Their tuning test is this week:
Tune one string - 
Under :30 seconds = 4
between :30-1:00 = 3
between: 1:00 - 2:00 = 2
Over 2:00 = 1

19-20 Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences

It's that time of year again!  Schedule a conference time with the specials team.

5/6 Music Week of 2/24/20

This week, students will continue to work on Yellow Submarine.
 
They will perform for each other while giving/receiving feedback.
 
Students will also be learning how to tune the strings of the guitar, beginning each class with practicing this skill.

5/6 Music Week of 1/10/20

This week, students will review all of the songs they've learned so far:
Don't Worry, Be Happy
Yellow Submarine
Ah, Poor Bird
 
They work, as a class, to get their part (marimba, vocals, guitar, or drums) performance ready.  I will then have them perform for various teachers or classes.

This week, students will continue to work on Ah, Poor Bird

This week, students will continue to work on Yellow Submarine.
 
They will perform for each other on Wednesday.
 
Students will also be learning how to tune the strings of the guitar, beginning each class with practicing this skill.

5/6 Music Week of 1/13/20

This week, students will get a quick review of how to read a guitar chart, how to clap and count quarter, eighth, and half notes (and rests), and then begin playing songs as a band.
 
They will begin with Yellow Submarine.
-Start with guitars and vocals
-Add an instrument when group demonstrates mastery of tempo and individual parts

5/6 Music Week of 12/2/19

This week, students will be adding instruments to their small groups playing "Don't Worry, Be Happy".
 
They will add marimbas and drums as their groups accomplish goals of:
a steady tempo
correct chords
timing of chords and vocals

5/6 Music Week of 11/18/19

This week, students will continue to get familiar with the guitar by learning and practicing "easy" chords of G, C, and Em.
 
They will work as a class and in small groups on strumming rhythms and playing the 3 chords while switching in rhythm.
 
They will begin "Don't Worry, Be Happy" this week and work in groups.

5/6 Music week of 11/4/19

This week, students will begin Yellow Submarine by the Beatles.
 
They will choose groups, learn the strumming pattern and chords on guitar and/or the melody and lyrics on vocals. 
 
After proving they can perform with those two instruments, they can add drums and then marimba. 

5/6 Music Week of 10/28/19

This week, students will be studying and testing on the chords G, Em, and C.
 
They will be required to play each one of the "easy" versions of the chords when prompted.
 
They will also be learning a new song (yellow submarine) and playing in small groups which they will choose.

5/6 Music Week of 10/21/19

This week, much of the students’ time will he spent rehearsing with their small groups. 
 
They are learning to play “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. 

This week they will focus on tempo and playing together at the same rate or speed. 
 
If their group is able to play through the 1st chorus, they can add drums to their band.
