The 7/8 Spring Concert is almost here!  Due to the change in parent/teacher conference dates, our concert will be:

 

When: Friday, March 13th at 6:00PM (Students arrive at or before 5:00)

Where: HS community space

This week, students will be continuing their work on "Help!" and "Come Together".  They will refine the songs by improving balance, dynamic changes, and professionalism.

 

Students will also have opportunities to work on small group songs.  They perform for the class, receiving feedback.

 

On Thursday, we will continue our Music History lessons by going from the Classical Period to the Romantic Period.  We will study instruments and musical styles of the era.

This week, students will begin their first song, Help! by the Beatles.

 

They will choose their instruments and get their music, learning:

Tempo

Chords

Rhythms

Melody

This week, students will be suggesting/voting on songs, choosing instruments, and beginning song number 1.

 

Every Thursday, students will get a music history lesson or a music theory lesson. They will also play Rhythm Basketball to sharpen their counting and sight-reading skills.

This week, students will make preparations for their concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:00PM.

 

They will finish their songs and add dynamics, balance and possibly choreography.

 

 

This week, students will continue to work on their songs for the Winter Concert.

 

They have many small groups and 2 songs so far as a large group. They will begin "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" this week and rehearse "Beat It" while making sure to use correct dynamics, tempo, and balance.

 

 

This week, students will continue their work on Africa by Toto. They will work mainly on the chord changes and rhythms, slowly adding stylistic accents and dynamics. 

 

They will also review Beat It by MJ and decide on the ending. 

This week, students will continue to work on Beat It.  They are most of the way through the form of the song, but need to work on:

1. balance

2. timing

3. accuracy

 

They will begin work on Africa by Toto this week.
