Q and A

Questions I have received from parents and students with answers:

1. What Zoom meetings does my child need to be present for?
I would highly suggest that your child is present for their Advocacy Zoom meeting. This is held with their Advocacy teacher. However, we also are aware that some students won't be able to make the meeting.

2. What are "office hours" and does my child need to be present during this time?
"Office hours" is the time in which the teacher is available by Zoom to answer any questions from either parents or students. Students do not need to be present during this time but are welcome to attend to check in or ask their questions. Parents, feel free to attend to ask questions of the teacher. Being that the purpose of this time is to answer questions, attendees without questions will be muted in order to keep the time available and appropriate to the purpose.

3. Who is in charge of my students learning?
The teachers in the 3/4 Pod are planning together so that students will still get the standards that would have been taught in the school room this quarter. However, in order to simplify the distance learning, which is new to all of us, students have been grouped in their Advocacy classes and will receive most/all of their assignments and information from their Advocacy teacher. The parents primary contact for all classes should be their child's Advocacy teacher.

Be on the lookout for your child's Moby Max login information :)

Dear parents,

As Spring Break comes to a close, teachers are working hard to plan for online learning. As such, you will be receiving the Moby Max login for your child today. More information regarding the online learning will be posted tomorrow. On a side note, it has been determined that the  Emergency Paper Work Packets that were sent home at the end of the quarter will be optional. I look forward to working with the students again!

Best wishes,
Mrs. Maslen

Due to the school closure, I gave each student two packets. (Note: If your child was not here on Friday, you can stop at the Westgate office and pick up your child's packets or email me and I can send a digital copy.) One packet has a pink colored title page; this packet is in case school is closed longer than our Spring Break. The second packet has a white cover sheet; this packet is the work due for this week.

The work in the packet is 4th grade standard work with a few 5th grade standard problems thrown in. We have covered most of the topics in this packet. Students may need help with the geometry problems (this unit is our 4th quarter unit) and with the coordinate grids problem.

Please email me if you have any questions or would like any math videos to help with these concepts. [email protected]

4th Grade Math: Week of March 9, 2020

This week, students will be diving into the mathematical topic of measurement, especially, in relation to converting measurements to different units, both metric and imperial units.
