MATH UPDATE (MAY 27- MAY 31):

This week in Math, students will:
  • Organize their Summative Letters and Graphs to send to Colorado Treasurer, Dave Young.
  • Participate in a Socratic Seminar in which they will reflect on the Statistics and Probability Unit.

MATH UPDATE (MAY 20- MAY 24):

This week in Math, students will:
  • Finalize their Stem and Leaf Plot, their Box and Whisker Graph, and another graph (their choice) to add to their Wealth Distribution Summative Letter.
  • Draft, revise, and finalize their letters to the influential person they chose (Colorado Treasurer, Dave Young) to bring attention to the issue.

MATH UPDATE (MAY 13- MAY 17):

This week in Math, students will:
  • Use Box and Whiskers Graphs to help formulate data over wealthy distribution in America.
  • Learn how use Stem and Leaf Tables to organize data.
  • Begin composing their rough drafts letters to the influential person they chose to bring change to the wealth distribution in Thornton.

MATH UPDATE (MAY 06- MAY 10):

This week in Math, students will:
  • Research and select a person who they believe can influence a change in the Wealth Inequality Distribution that they are learning about.
  • Complete Workshops over different statistics and data found through their own research and using Line Graphs, Pie Charts, and Stem and Leaf Charts.
  • Begin composing rough drafts using their data to send to their influential person.

MATH UPDATE: APRIL 29- MAY 3

This week in Math, students will:
  • Begin their final Unit, Probability and Statistics by taking a Pre-Diagnostic.
  • Learn vocabulary specific to the Unit and create Doodle Notes over them.
  • Predict the wealth distribution of America and analyze it next to notes taken from a video over actual statistics.

MATH UPDATE: APRIL 22- APRIL 26

This week in Math, students will:
  • Complete Workshops using R.A.M.P. over Multi-Step Equations and Equations with Variables on both sides.
  • Begin working on their Summative for the Algebraic Expressions and Equations Unit. This assessment will be an interactive activity/project in which students will design their own Amusement Park using equations and expressions.

MATH UPDATE: APRIL 15- APRIL 19

This week in Math, students will:
  • Complete Workshops using R.A.M.P. over Two-Step Equations and Equations with Inequalities.
  • Participate in a T.I.M.E. Rotation using Two-Step Equations and Equations with Inequalities.
  • Take a Checkpoint to determine their level of readiness to move toward our Summative for the Unit.

MATH UPDATE: APRIL 8- APRIL 12

This week in Math, students will:
  • Reset Expectations in Math (both Self and Class).
  • Complete Workshops focused on Multi-Step Equations and Inequalities in Equations. 
  • Take a Checkpoint to self-check where they are in the Unit.

MATH UPDATE (MARCH 18- MARCH 20):

This week in Math, students will:
  • Use their tools that they have developed (Distributive Property, Order of Operations, Combining Like Terms) to solve One- and Two-Step Equations.
  • Begin using the same tools to solve Algebraic Inequalities.
REMINDER: This week is a short week and we are also beginning CMAS Testing. Students will only have Math on Monday (03.18) and Wednesday (03.20). Testing will resume after Break, as well. Please see your student's Advocacy Teacher's Class Page for more details.

  • Use R.A.M.P. to develop their problem solving skills in Workshops using One-Step and Two-Step Equations.
  • Participate in T.I.M.E. Rotations involving One- and Two-Step Equations and Equations using Inequalities.

  • Use R.A.C.E.S. Strategy to complete Workshops over One-Step Equations, Combining Like Terms, and Distributive Property.
  • Participate in a T.I.M.E. Rotations over One-Step Equations.
  • Continue to fill out a Study Guide that they will use to begin their Equations and Expressions Summative.
