Week of 5/28 - 5/31

This week in Science students will take some time to explore questions they have about science, and to practice what they've learned this year with some fun experiments.

Park Day POSTPONED

Park Day was originally scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, May 23rd.  Due to weather, Park Day and Community Clean Up have been postponed to next Wednesday, May 29th.

Week of 5/20 - 5/24

This week we will review what we have learned this quarter (forces, motion, and magnets) and then take an assessment to show understanding of these concepts.

Week of 5/13 - 5/17

Students will be finishing up their study of magnets this week.  They will work on getting a metal object through a maze using only magnetism, and also attempt to create a magnetic lock.

Week of 5/6 - 5/10

We will continue to study magnets, learning more about how they work, what they work on, etc.  We will also be attending the 4th graders science fair presentations on Friday!

Week of 4/29 - 5/3

This week we will be completing our bridge building and forces, and moving on to studying magnetism and how magnets work.

Week of 4/22 - 4/26

Students will continue to learn about force, studying different types of bridges (such as suspension bridges), and then attempting to build their own bridge out of paper to support weight.

Week of 4/15 - 4/19

This week in Science we will be continuing our study of force, digging deeper than the initial understanding of "push" and "pull", and participating in some more experience to test different types of force.

Week of 4/8 - 4/12

This week in Science we will begin our new unit on Forces, Motion, and Magnets.  We will do some introductory lessons on forces, and go over what the students have already learned, and get ready for some fun experiments!

Week of 3/11 - 3/15

This will be the last week of our Climate, Weather, and Natural Disasters Unit.  We will be learning about storm prediction, and hopefully doing some experiments with tornadoes and lightening, finishing with an assessment for students to demonstrate their knowledge.

Week of 3/4 - 3/8

In science we will be moving on to natural disasters, differentiating between weather-based disasters and others.  We will learn about thunderstorms and tornadoes, as well as working on how to protect a house from a wind storm.

Week of 2/25 - 3/1

This week in Science students will finish their study of climate zones, analyzing post cards from different zones to figure out which zone they are from.  They will also create their own climate zone postcards.  We will also begin to learn about predicting storms and natural disasters.
