Week of 5/28 - 5/31

This week in math we will be using the skills we learned this year to do some fun end of year math activities, reviewing the concepts that we have gone over!

Park Day POSTPONED

Park Day was originally scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, May 23rd.  Due to weather, Park Day and Community Clean Up have been postponed to next Wednesday, May 29th.

Week of 5/20 - 5/24

This week students will continue to learn about interpretting line plots, and then review and take an assessment on what we have learned this quarter (geometry, measurement, data).

Week of 5/13 - 5/17

Students will continue to learn about measurement, utilizing their knowledge with word problems (time, distance, volume, etc.).  They will also learn how to transfer their knowledge of multiplication and addition into area and perimeter, as well as graphing line plots with unit fractions.

Week of 5/6 - 5/10

This week we will only be meeting a handful of times, as we will be MAP testing much of the week, and participating in our Run 4 Funds!

We will be continuing our study of the metric system, and moving on to the imperial system as well.

Week of 4/29 - 5/3

This week we will continue to work on angles and understanding how to find missing parts, as well as moving on to other parts of geometry, including symmetry, and then moving on to measurement.

Week of 4/22 - 4/26

Students will continue learning about geometry, taking their knowledge of different types of angles and roughly sketching them, as well as measuring them with protractors.

Week of 4/15 - 4/19

This week in Math we will be learning about Geometry.  We will learn basic definitions involving angles and polygons, finding them around us, and understanding what differentiates different types.

Week of 4/8 - 4/12

This week in Math we will only be meeting a couple of times, due to CMAS testing.  We will be reviewing the CMAS math practice test, and reviewing the math that we have gone over so far this year.

Week of 3/11 - 3/15

We will be finishing our study of fractions this quarter, understanding how to convert tenths and hundredths fractions to decimals, as well as placing them on a number line, and finishing our assessment on fractions for the quarter.

Week of 3/4 - 3/8

This week in Math we will be working on adding, subtracting, and decomposing fractions, including working with improper fractions and mixed numbers.

Week of 2/25 - 3/1

This week in Math we will continue our work on comparing fractions.  Students will learn how to compare fractions with different numerators and different denominators, as well as using visual aids and multiplication to find common denominators.

Week of 2/18 - 2/22

This week we will continue studying fractions.  Students will learn about equivalent fractions - using visual models, equations, and will generate their own.

Week of 2/11 - 2/15

This week in Math students will take an assessment on their knowledge of multiplication and long division.  We will also begin learning classes.  (This will be a short week, as we will be on our kindness cards field trips on Thursday, and have no school on Friday).
