For the rest of the day, we will open and bookmark some important web sites we will be using including Westgates's website, Infinite Campus and Microsoft Office 365. Students will have a chance to practice logging on and touring these different sites and we will troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Tuesday and Wednesday we will be doing MAPS testing and Thursday and Friday we will return to our regular schedule.
October Advocacy Focus - Bullying Prevention
For the rest of the month, we will be focusing on Bullying Prevention in Advocacy. After introducing the focus, we will spend the first week focusing on KINDNESS. We want all students to be able to know what kindness is and how to recognize it in others. This will lead to the creation of our 7/8 POD Kindness Box where students will be able to recognize and nominate people they see being kind to others.
The second week we will be focusing on the difference between respectful and disrespectful behavior as well as the roles of the victim, perpetrator and bystander in a bullying situation. Finally we will be introducing students to a school-wide "Enough" Protocol: Enough, Walk, Talk. Students will learn how and when to use this protocol as well as what to do if you are told or shown the Enough signal. We hope this will put the power in the student's hands to express when they have had enough and to know they can walk away and find an adult if the situation doesn't change.
