Math Update: 5/27/25 - 5/30/25

This week in math, students will take two final assessments:

  • Chapter 15 Post-Test – on identifying and partitioning shapes
  • Post-Course Test (Wednesday) – covering key concepts from 2nd grade

We’ll also celebrate our math growth with some fun review games. I’m so proud of how far each student has come!

Math Update: 5/19/25 - 5/23/25

This week, we will wrap up our Geometry unit, “Identify and Partition Shapes.” Students will continue developing their understanding of shapes and equal parts. In class, they will:

  • Compose rectangles using squares
  • Identify two, three, or four equal shares
  • Partition shapes into equal parts
  • Analyze how equal shares can look different, even within the same shape

I’m excited to see how students apply these skills in hands-on activities and discussions!

Please continue to help your child memorize their single-digit addition facts (for example, 6+6, 8+9, etc.). This is a critical skill that is needed for mastery by the end of 2nd grade. If you would like your child to practice their facts at home, XtraMath is an easy way to do so.

Math Update: 5/12/25 - 5/16/25

On Friday of last week, our class took the post-test for Chapter 14, “Money and Time.” We will begin this week by taking the pre-test for our final unit, Chapter 15, “Identify and Partition Shapes.”

In class this week, students will:

  • Take the Chapter 15 Pre-test.
  • Identify and describe two-dimensional shapes.
