6th Grade Music Week of 3/8

All of your assignments for the week will be posting in Teams on Monday and Wednesday.

Here is a good way to space out your week:

Monday: Compare/Contrast essay will post in Teams.  You will have two days to complete this assignment.  Follow the directions in the attached word document in the assignment.

Tuesday:  Finish your essay and turn it in before Thursdsay.

Wednesday: You have a new assignment in Teams. https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/
It uses Chrome Music Lab and the directions are in Teams.

Thursday: Make sure you've completed all the week's assignments. If you've got everything done, see if you can clap and count the rhythms in this lesson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHad-I5AJT0

Still too easy? You're a master at rhythms?  Okay, but can you do this one??

If you're really brave, see if you can count along with the video when it's TWO TIMES AS FAST (adjust settings on YouTube).

6th Grade Music Week of 2/22

This week, we will continue our work on "Don't Worry, Be Happy".  Switching chords will be our main focus.

Remember when switching from A minor to C - your first and second fingers stay the same.

We are also adding strumming patterns and technique.

Online Students:
Your assignments will be through Teams.

6th Grade Music Week of 2-8

Hi everyone!

This week, we continue learning "Oh My Darlin" on guitar, switching between the C and G7 chords.

Strumming, counting, and adding the full chords will be our focus.  We will also play some rhythm games, learning how to hear a rhythm and identify it correctly among three possible rhythms.

We will learn more about how sound waves effect matter. Did you know that sound waves can make some objects levitate?

Online students: Your assignments are on Teams. Email me with any questions or concerns.

6th Grade Music week of 2-1

This week begins synchronous learning.  Music will be slightly different than the rest of your classes. Here's what to expect:

M/W and T/Th students: Class from 9:15-10:15AM
We will learn guitars this quarter. You will be assigned a guitar which stays at the school. Each group will move at their own pace as a class, meaning M/W may move slower or faster than T/Th.

Music will not have an online daily live class.
If you're ONLINE ONLY, you will keep up with assignments through Teams.  You'll have FlipGrid assignments starting this week. The first online assignment will be "Getting Started". Online students will play recorder.

If you don't have a recorder: You can come pick up your recorder at the front desk during school hours anytime this week. Again, THIS IS FOR ONLINE ONLY.
