hi boys and girls we want to do a quick. So we're going to talk about the proper way to hold your pencil so everybody pull up your thumb and your pointer finger and these are your pinching fingers so that's what you're going to pinch the pencil within those are the two main singers are going to be using in order to grip your pencil everybody hold up your finger like the tallest finger is your fat is where your pencils going to rest is on the inside it's acts like a pillow for your pencil and that is the proper and you want to hold it closer to the end and not too far away so you have total control over your pencil and then how many hands do we use when we write we used to so your other hand needs to be holding the Pence of the papers pencil doesn't move hi everybody miss Kenner here just wanted to show you how to use your Daily Journal this is it this is what it will look like I have a nice example here of how this student wrote on a page she started at the beginning of her journal she started writing left to right if you're not sure what side is left just make an L with your finger and then you'll know to start on that side of the page and then you continue when you go down to the next line writing left bright also we want to make sure that you then write on the back of the pages because we want to conserve paper as much as we can to do our part for the environment so you can always write on the back side of the paper these have a nice face that you can draw a great picture but please remember to continue writing in Your Daily Journal at the beginning of the book and just continue writing that way we unfortunately don't want just random drawings or you writing a story in the middle of the book because then when you go to show you are amazing writing to others or your teacher you might not be able to find it so if you start at the beginning you'll always know where your writing is is the speed and now we're going to talk about our whiteboard markers with your whiteboard markers you want to make sure that you keep the camp on them when you're not using them because they do dry out really quickly you also want to make sure you don't press down too hard when you're using them just be gentle when you're using him if you press to hard you'll ruin the tip and then it will be hard to get to use it for the rest of the the the time and when you put the lid on try to make sure that you hear that click that way you know it's going to stay nice and safe in there and not dry up too fast Brasa going to talk about our glue sticks when you're using your glue stick take off the lid and gently roll it up just a little bit not too much you don't want to have the whole glue stick out because when you try to glue it'll glob or it'll break or makeup message it's a little bit just like that you don't have to glue the whole back of something just around the edge enough to like secure it to the paper but you don't have to get too crazy with it or wasteful and then get your right on there then you want to make sure that you roll it back down then I'll help keep it from getting too dry to quickly and that live will make a little quick sound when it's on their side just like with her markers we take the lid off the marker and put it back on and I'll make that little click sound and that lets us know it's going to be nice and safe and not dry we also want to make sure that we're not pressing too hard with her marker markers because just like with our dry erase marker we can ruin the tip and then we have some difficult supplies to use for the rest of the time are crayons are also very gentle juice only they will break if you're too rough with them so just gently color if you build it sharpen your crown cuz it's gotten dull you can use your pencil sharpener to do that I just the charger sharpener to do that but I don't need the strip in it all the time every time you use it because that can kind of damage my and my crown and if I need to take the paper off of it it's just nice to take a little bit of the paper off at a time and not the whole thing it just keeps it nice are colored pencils also don't need to be over sharpened believe it or not they'll actually break inside the pencil and then it makes it really hard to use so when you're coloring be gentle sharpen lightly and that takes us to a sharpener you see that there's two sharpeners a larger one for your large pencil in a smaller one for your colored pencils in your small pistol when you get ready to empty it out make sure that you were over a trash can before taking off the time and it seems hi everybody don't want to talk to you about how to use your daily folders and they are color coded by subject so we're going to show you what you're going to be using each of these folders for and how to label them so that you always remember what goes into each of your folders literacy folder literacy what will go in your literacy folder is anything that you do for any of your super kids lessons if you write some other stories or anything like that you can put in there any of your worksheets may go and let her see anything that has to do with literacy will always be put and then we have our red folder which is for a map so we're going to label it map so what's you're going to keep in your mouth holders anything related to your math class so he you do some work maybe you take some pictures to upload them into our seesaw you can still keep them in your math folder and then that way it would be a great place to keep all your work next we have our green science folder so you are going to have science two times a week and this is where you will keep any activities that YouTube remember it opens from left to right and then our yellowfolder is our social studies social studies NPR social studies folder I would recommend keeping up with all your papers make sure you just keep them all within the folders and that way in case something doesn't spend to us always we're going to do a live our advocacy lessons we're going to we're going to do some of those are cheap you'll be asked to bring me just over advocacy lessons to share with your friends this is our spiral notebook we are going to be using this as our interactive math notebook when we open it up when those that have lots of people who want to make sure that we number the very bottom of the page so it's just going to be like all the other books that we read and we will use the front each page and just like with our composition notebook so that we can record everything just as we're taking notes thank you for listening boys and girls to take care of your stuff
