Accuplacer General Information
What is the Accuplacer test?
The Accuplacer is a series of tests that evaluate students' skills in reading, writing, and math to help college administrators place them in courses that match their skills. Westgate Community School's high school program integrates both high school courses and college courses through Front Range Community College. Having qualifying Accuplacer scores will increase the priority group in the high school lottery and will aid with course placement upon Westgate enrollment.
What do I need in order to take the test?
You will need your student number (S#) from FRCC and a government-issued photo ID. You will receive your S# after applying to FRCC. A school issued ID is also acceptable if you don't have a government-issued photo ID. If you don't have your school ID, please email Rochelle Goforth at [email protected] for help.
Do I take both tests on the same day?
You can take both tests on the same day, OR you can do them on different days; it’s completely up to you! Some students prefer to take the tests in one day, and others would rather break them up into smaller chunks. If you’re nervous about taking the test, choose the subject area you feel more confident in and take that test first.
How long does the test take?
It depends. The assessment is not timed, but it usually takes one to two hours to complete. Please make sure to plan ahead and go to the testing center at least two hours before it closes.
How many times can I take the test?
The Accuplacer can only be taken once per semester, and students have a maximum of 4 opportunities during a 5-year period. Students will not have the opportunity to retake the Accuplacer multiple times during Westgate's enrollment season.
