R.I.S.E

Part of our Whole Child Education program is to teach and reinforce school-wide values that are core to Westgate.

These include Respecting each other, Integrity, maintaining emotional and physical Safe spaces as well as Empathy.  We use the acronymn R.I.S.E. within the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) framework.  

PBIS is a system in which students, staff and community create a set of school-wide behavioral expectations/ core values, we teach those expectations in all of our various environments (classrooms, restrooms, pods, recess, etc.), and then we ACKNOWLEDGE and CELEBRATE when we see students doing those things! Westgate’s values and behavioral expectations are RISE (Respect, Integrity, Safety, Empathy).
