Week 3 Assignments Slideshow

Here is a PDF for all of the assignments for the week. In the bottom right corner is a little tag that says "Graded", these are the assignments that are required and should take extra care. The others are highly suggested as well, but if students are spending more than 6 hours on work a day and not getting everything done, they can just do the graded ones.

Friday

Matter Matters Friday

  1. Go to microsoft teams, Science 5 Cooper
  2. Click on the assignments tab, then click on the assignment “Matter matters Friday”
  3. Watch at least two of your classmates videos from yesterday and respond to what they have created

Thursday

Matter Matters Thursday

  1. Go to microsoft teams, click on Science 5 Cooper
  2. Click on the assignments tab, then click on “Matter matters Thursday”
  3. Using your knowledge on the states of matter, design your own material. You can actually make it, or just draw it. This needs to have a name, what it is made out of

  4. Record a video of yourself on flipgrid talking about your new substance.

Wednesday

 Matter matters Wednesday

  1. Go to microsoft teams, click on “Science 5 Cooper”

  4. Take notes on your observation: what do you see every 30 seconds or so?
  5. Write a reflection: What did the scientist do during the experiment? What did they figure out? What did you notice about how the experiment was put together? Would you do it differently if you did it on your own?

What is Matter Thursday

  1. Create your own invention: draw it, come up with what it will do, and decide what state of matter it is (why is it that state of matter?)
  2. Record a flipgrid on what your invention is, what it does, and what state of matter it is.
  3. Watch at least 3 of your classmates videos, and then comment positively on their videos.

What is Matter Wednesday

  1. Read the first page of this article: http://www.chem4kids.com/files/matter_states.html
  2. Take two column notes on what you read (use the document provided by your teacher to fill in, you can print and write on it or type in the document)
  3. Write a summary of what you read. Pretend that you are sharing this information with a friend, how would you explain the information to them? Make sure to attach the document to “Your work” in the assignment (create a word document). Remember to turn it in!

What is Matter Tuesday

  1. Click on this link: https://www.sciencelearn.org.nz/image_maps/4-water-solid-liquid-and-gas
  2. Write a reflection about the different states of matter, and why it is important to know which state it is. To do this, add a word document to the “Your work” section of the assignment and then answer the question. Remember to write in complete sentences, restate the question, and to include specific evidence from the interactive above in your response.

  2. Create a video on flipgrid of the different types of matter that you found, and how you know that’s what they are.
