Week of May 31st

Hello Social Studies Families,
It's time to wrap up this "unprecedented year" and celebrate all that each of us has done to make it to this point. We will definitely take time to reflect and celebrate 2020-2021. Please see this calendar for this week's schedule. Remember that we will be having our American History Museum day on Tuesday, so I want to remind students to bring in anything they have been working on at home and for everyone to be ready to present your topic and artifact. It's going to be fun!
Thanks for all your support this year. It is much appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mr. Rowan

Parents/Guardians and Students

As we approach the end of the grading window we wanted to make sure that parents and students are aware of upcoming deadlines. All missing or current assignments for students must be submitted to teacher by Wednesday May 26th. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Have a safe and happy week!

Mr. Rowan

Next week we will begin our American History Museum Project to end the year. Students will pick a topic from the time periods in American History that they studied this year. They will research this topic and then create an artifact that relates to this topic. We will then have a museum to show off these artifacts.
Hello!
We will continue looking at the period of Reconstruction and specifically look at how the 13th Amendment and Black Codes from Southern states affected the freedom of the newly freedpeople. We will then look at the 14th and 15th Amendments as reactions to answer questions about citizenship, protection under the law and the right to vote.
Have a safe and happy week!

Here is our Weekly Update for Social Studies this week. We will be looking at advantages and disadvantages, Lincoln's role as President during the Civil War, details of different battles and what we can learn about the battle of Antietam from photoraphs.
Greetings Social Studies Families!
This week we will be exploring the causes of the Civil War, asking can war be civil and what were Lincoln's views on enslavement of other people. We will also read the words of the Sothern state's secessionist documents to understand their reasons for leaving the United States. On a side note, I will be gone on Monday for an eye checkup, so Ms. Ross will be my guest teacher that day. Having been a guest teacher for me before, I know she will do great!
Have a safe and happy week!
