3rd/4th Grade Music (Greder)

Course Description

Music class this quarter will focus on Recorder Karate.

Students will learn skills like reading music notes, reading and counting rhythms, and we will cover music vocabulary and markings in music (breath marks, dynamics, stylistic markings).

Recorder Karate is an excellent tool for scaffolding and differentiated learning.  Students who have experience can move quickly through the songs and everyone moves at their own pace.

3rd Grade Music Week of 10-14

Welcome back to school!

Wednesday: We'll go over Quarter 2 expectations and rules.  Then we'll start clapping rhythms and making up our own rhythms using 4 beat phrases. We will each come up with a phrase, write out the syllables into rhythms, and then use Boomwhackers to play the rhythms.

Thursday: We will go over the notes of the Treble clef.  We'll start with the spaces, then go to the lines.  We'll practice as a class.  We'll finish up class with a video about acoustic levitation - making things float with sound waves! (It's as amazing as it sounds)
