Weekly Update 10/14

This week in Literacy students will...
Complete a pre-reading activity for the book Monster, create their investigative journals and write an essay on the topic of teens and punishment. 

Weekly Update 9/23

This week in Literacy students will....
- Complete their poet portfolio for which all sections are due on Wednesday, September 25th
-Complete their quarter 1 reflection

9/20 Directions

Please work on completing the parts of your poetry portfolio. They should all be on your one note under unit 3 poetry. By Monday try and complete your poet biography one oager, your SLAM analysis of a poem, email me your black out poem choice, and begin writing your own poem. Thank you!

-Learn and apply what an onomatopoeia is.

This week in Literacy students will...
 
-Learn and use the acronym SLAM to analyze poetry on a deeper level as a whole class
-Be assigned their verse novel reading groups
-Use SLAM to analyze a section of the verse novel independently

Weekly Update 8/12

This week in Literacy students will complete a book tasting in order to try and find a good book to read during independent reading. Students will also complete a reading survey and about me survey. We will begin our 2nd unit which is our Week long Writing Boot camp Unit to do a quick crash course on essay writing to prepare them for high school and beyond.
