5/6 Week 3-12/2-12/6

This week we will be starting and wrapping up our soccer stations and then moving on to some line soccer. The students will spend two or three days working through their soccer stations developing their soccer fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling. After they have worked on these skills, students will work to apply these skills in a more game like setting of line soccer. On Wednesday, the students will be participating in our station workout with a goal of 24minutes at 70-100% of their max heart rate. On Thursday, we will be talking about growth mindset. Specifically, what it is, how do you know if you have it, and what it is good for. 

5/6 Week 2- 11/18-11/22

This week we will be wrapping up our team building activities and starting our soccer stations. Students will be working to develop their fundamental understanding of soccer and the skills (shooting, passing, dribbling). Students will rotate through the stations of several days. Upon completion we will be playing some more authentic type soccer games that challenge the students to apply these fundamental skills. On Wednesday the students will participate in our ladder workout with a goal of 22minutes in the performance heart rate zone. In health we will be talking about the importance of daily PE. 

5/6 Week 1- 11/11-11/15

This week we will be starting with some team building activities working to get comfortable working with all the different peers in class. On Wednesday, the students will be participating in our Tabata stations workout with a goal of 20minutes in the performance heart rate zone of 70-100% of max heart rate. In Health we will be continuing with our team building and doing an activity called Find someone Who with the goal that you talk and have a conversation with each person in class.

5/6 Week 3- 10/28-11/1

This week we will be continuing our soccer unit. We will be completing our soccer stations and moving onto some soccer skill games followed by some full class line soccer. On Wednesday, the students will be going through our stations with a goal of 24minutes at 70-100% of their max heart rate. In health we will be talking about bullying and the long term effects it has on people. We will also be making some anti bullying/positive posters to hang around the school. 

5/6 Week 2-10/21-10/25

This week we will be jumping into our soccer unit. Students will spend two or three days going through our soccer stations and developing their fundamental soccer skills (passing, dribbling, shooting, cardio endurance). On Wednesday students will be participating in our Westgate Wild workout with a goal of 22minutes in the performance heart rate zone. In health we will be talking about the importance of daily physical activity/education and how physical activity affects how our brains work. 

5/6 Week 3-9/16-9/20

This week we will definitely be getting to our soccer stations and soccer skill games. Students will be working through the stations to develop their soccer shooting, passing, and dribbling skills. We will rotate through the stations for 2 days and then we will be playing some more 'authentic' types of soccer games that challenge the students to use the skills we have been developing during our stations. On Wednesday the students will be challenged to create their own workout that will keep them in the zone for 23 minutes. In health we will be talking about the mental health benefits of exercise. Students will be watching a TedTalk about the importance of physical education and writing a 2 paragraph response. 

5/6 Week 2- 9/9-9/13

This week we will begin with a 20minute jog/walk. We will also  be finishing up our team building cooperative learning challenges. This week we will be starting our soccer skill stations working to develop their coordination and their fundamental soccer skills. Towards the end of the week we will be playing some soccer skill games and line soccer. On Wednesday the students will be participating in a ladder workout with a goal of 23minutes in the performance heart rate zone. In health we will be highlighting the importance of stretching. 

Ninja Warrior Course @ Westgate!

Westgate will be hosting a Ninja Warrior obstacle course on Sept. 11th. All students that turn in a permission slip will have a time during the school day to come out and complete the challenge course, however they will also be here from 4:30-6:30pm for some unlimited Ninja fun. If you would like to do the course again and again and again from 4:30-6:30, it is only $15. Hope to see everyone there! 

5/6 Week 1- 9/3-9/6

This week we will be starting out with some team building exercises/challenges to get comfortable working with different people in class. On Wednesday, we will be starting our weekly workouts. Students will be rotating through our stations and trying to reach the heart rate goal of 20mins in the performance heart rate zone. In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching. 

5/6 Week 4- 8/26-8/29

This week we will be wrapping up the rotation with some fun high intensity competition. Students will be playing Line soccer, gagaball, capture the flag, and Kickball. On Wednesday, the students will participate in a design your own workout with a goal of 24mins in the zone. On thursday, the students will be given their end of the rotation stretch test. 

5/6 Week 2 8/19-8/23

This week we will be wrapping up our soccer stations and starting our soccer skill games and line soccer. Students will be challenged to use the skills we have been working on developing in our stations during a more authentic game play situation. On Wednesday, studetns will be participating in a ladder workout with a goal of 22minutes in the performance heart rate zone. In health we will be talking about the above the neck benefits of exercising. 

5/6 8/12-8/16

This week we will be starting our soccer unit. Students will be participating in various soccer stations working to develop their understanding of the fundamentals of soccer(passing, shooting, dribbling, cardio). On Wednesday, the students will be participating in a TABATA workout. We will be using the heart rate monitors and the goal will be 20minutes in the performance heart rate zone of 70-100% of their max heart rate. In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching. Friday we will vote on an all class activity.
