Week of 5/26/20 - 5/29/20 Maslen's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

This is our last week of art for the year. I know, I'm sad too! But you can continue to create and make art during this time and during the summer!

For this week, we will be learning a little bit about Monet and his style of painting which is Impressionism.
I would like you to watch this short video about Impressionism.

What do you notice about Impressionism? What is their subject matter that they paint?

Impressionists use their surroundings and nature as their subject of their paintings. So I would like for you to look out a window in your home and create a picture of what you see! You will be using supplies at home (crayons, markers, etc) or online using Tate Paint or any other previous websites I have provided. You can either include the window frame or not up to you! Send me over your window picture to my email when you have finished. :)

Week of 5/18/20 - 5/22/20 Maslen's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

After learning about Symmetry last week, this week we will be focusing on the opposite, Asymmetry!
If an object is asymmetrical, it does not have any lines of symmetry, therefore it not symmetrical.
An artist that was famous for incorporating asymmetry was Pablo Picasso.

For this week, I would like you to complete two different activities:
1. Find two objects or things in your house that are asymmetrical. (These may be harder to find than symmetrical objects) You can email me your two objects or things that you have found.
2. Create your own picasso face either with supplies you have at home or on picassohead.com. You can send me what you created if you'd like.

Week of 5/11/20 - 5/15/20 Maslen's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

For this week we will be focusing on Symmetry. Watch the video link below about symmetry.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFzktJNmnPU

After watching the video, think and make a list of 5 different things that are symmetrical. When you have found 5 different things, think and write how many lines of symmetry that object has. You can email me your list. :)

After you discover and think about 5 different symmetrical things, click on the link below and draw your own symmetrical butterfly. You may also draw your own symmetrical butterfly if you have supplies at home. Make sure you have a line of symmetry drawn if you use your own materials on paper. Since the following website does not allow you to save and send you do not need to send me your butterfly.

Hey Art Students!

I will be posting your assignments during distance learning here.

For this week , I want you to take the time for yourself and think about what is bringing you joy and happiness during this time of isolation and create artwork to explain that! You may use Microsoft Paint. If you do not have Microsoft Paint you can use the website Pixilart. Once you are done, send your artwork to me via email. If you have art supplies at home you can also draw on a piece of paper. Just take a picture of it and email it to me.
