Permission Slip Walk to School Day is Thursday!

Walk to School Day is Thursday, May 30th.  Clearly the permission slip turn around will need to be faster than Friday folders, so please just print, sign, take a picture and email it back to me tomorrow. Thanks! Mrs. Valenza and Mr. Wise will be at Barnes and Noble ready to meet the walkers who will leave at 07:30 a.m. and head to Westgate.  All participants will receive a water bottle, sunglasses and a blinking safety light (upon arrival at school).

Park Day & Run4Fund$ Party

Hello Parents!

Tomorrow is Park day. Wooohoo! Students will be celebrating the amazing success of our Run4Fund$ Fundraiser. I am so happy to report that our community came together to raise over

$12,000.00!!!! Thank you all so much for coming together and cheering your kiddos on. They worked so hard! As a reward we will get to celebrate with a jumpy castle, hydro blast, and foam party!

PLEASE SEND STUDENTS IN ALTHETIC WEAR AND INCLUDE A TOWEL AND CHANGE OF CLOTHES ðŸ˜Š

Park Day, Community Clean Up & Run4Fund$ 8:30 a.m. - 11: 45 a.m Students and staff will participate in this celebration and community service. Please send kids with a change of clothes and towel for park day
 
Thursday May 30th 
 
Walk/Bike to School Day (rescheduled!) 7:20 a.m. – 7:50 a.m. Walkers-Barnes and Noble at 120th and Washington / Bikers-EB Raines Park in Northglenn
 
Kindergarten Dinosaur Museum From 5:30-6:30 kindergarten students can take you on a tour of the dinosaur museum they've created in the kindergarten pod.

Monday June 3rd
 
Kindergarten Continuation Ceremony At 8:30 a.m. all of kindergarten, including families, will gather for the continuation ceremony in the gym. The ceremony will conclude at approximately 9:30 a.m.
 
Tuesday June 4th

Park Day

Hey parents,

Our park day has been rescheduled to next Wednesday because of the weather. Hopefully it improves and we can have a fun day at the park next week.

Boxes Needed

We still need some boxes to help us pack up our books and supplies. Any and all box types are welcomed and needed! 

Student-led Conferences

Hello Kindergarten Families! Please sign-up for a start time with your HOMEROOM teacher only! Student-led confrences allow a half-hour time slot for 5 parents/students to come in during that time frame ONLY. The student will lead you through their work and portfolios. THis is a wonderful opportunity to hear from the student about what they feel they have learned, what goals they have met and what skills they continue to work on. Teachers will be available to help as needed and to answer questions about the student's work. You can also sign up for a 15 minute conference with specials teachers separately from your other conference.
 

 

Please sign up for a start time in one of the available 30 minute time slots. Please sign-up for a start time with your HOMEROOM teacher only. To sign up for a conference with the specials teachers, you will need to sign up on their conference form that you can find on their page.

 

For Student Led conferences, YOUR CHILD WILL NEED TO COME WITH YOU and show you their work. This is not a time to meet with the teacher about the progress your child has made this year. There will be other kids/parents in the room. If you have any questions for your child’s teacher regarding academics/personal questions, please contact them via email. If teachers have any information that they need to communicate to you about your child, we will be reaching out to you.

May Update

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness month in Advocacy. Although we wont go into all of the details with Kindergarteners, we will talk about how to stay healthy in our bodies and minds.

It’s also that time of year where we will be packing up our classrooms. We also need some help packing up our pod area. If you wish to come in an help out, please contact Allyson Troutini,[email protected] to schedule a time/times for you to come in and help pack up!

Reminders:

May 7th- Field trip to Morrison Museum. 9-1pm. Half day pickup at 1pm. Please wear purple and pack a sack lunch that can be disposed at the museum. Please store snacks separate from the lunch.

May 8th- Ride your bike to school day

May 11th- Spring Carnival

May 23rd- Run4Fund$ Prize and Park Day

May 24th- NO SCHOOL: Staff Professional Development

  • Kindergartens final cumulative project is a Dinosaur museum. We will be using standards that we have learned across the entire year and present to your our work! We will be working on this project for the entire month of May! We cant wait to see you on Thursday May 30th at our Museum so you can check it out!

June 3rd- Kindergarten Continuation 8:30-9:30am

June 4th- Dismissal at 11:30am

                -Student Led Conferences 12:30-8pm (Sign up coming later)

June 5th- Last Day of School- Dismissal at 11:30am

Run4Fund$ Flyer

Hey parents, 
 
Coming home TODAY is the Run4Fund$ Pledge Form. 
The Fun Run itself is next Wednesday, May 8th, so students only have a couple of days to get pledges! 
Our goal is that every class will have $20 per student raised! 
You can turn in your pledge form to me by Wednesday if you are using cash or check, or submit them online at r4funds.com/schools/westgatecommunity if you are using card.

Carnival Volunteer Signup

Do you want to help out at our carnival this year? 
There are many ways to get involved! Below is a sign up if you wish to volunteer some time or if you wish to volunteer a baked good for our bake sale! This year the carnival will be at 9755 Henderson Rd Brighton CO 80601 at the Adams County Fair grounds.

Spare Snacks

Hello Kindergarten parents, 
We are officially out of spare snacks for Kindergartners (unless you sent in a snack stash specifically for your child). As of right now, we will not be handing out extra food if your child forgets their snack. If you wish to donate some spare snacks to share within the whole kindergarten, please send those in labeled "Emergency Snacks." If you want your child to also have their own specific snacks on hand in our classroom, please put their name on it.

Boxes Wanted

Hello amazing parents, 
 
If you dont already know, Westgate is doing a major remodel this summer. We will be painting all of the walls, getting all new (matching) furniture and getting rid of anything we don't need. This means that teacher have to pack up our ENTIRE rooms in order to make the move as easy as possible. All books, toys, supplies, etc. will need to be packed before June 7th! 
This also means that we need boxes. IF YOU HAVE ANY BOXES LAYING AROUND AND WOULD LIKE TO DONATE THEM TO OUR CLASSROOM, YOUR DONATION WILL BE MOST WELCOMED. WE MOSTLY NEED SMALLER BOXES THAT ARE GOOD FOR PACKING UP HEAVY BOOKS.
