Monthly Update September
Welcome to September in kindergarten!
Here is what you can expect for this month.
In Advocacy we will be working on our monthly theme of Self-Awareness. This is a time for us to talk about teamwork and collaboration, goal setting, being kind to ourselves, peer pressure and self-esteem. The second to last week of September (17th-21th) will be our College and Career Readiness week where we will be talking about jobs! If you would like to come in and share about your job, or a job you have had, let us know! Be on the lookout for the sign up. We will be posting it next week. We have slots available from 8-8:20am. If you really can’t make it, or we can't schedule you, we will have another career week in March.
Parents! THIS Thursday, September 6th, Amanda Novak and Generation Schools Network are hosting a Parent & Student Focus Group about topics such as bullying, social emotional learning, and more. Join us for meaningful conversation and DONUTS on Thursday morning from 8:15am-9:15am. We need your input - your voices matter!

Weekly Update 8/13/2018
We are so excited to finally be back to school!
This is a long announcement, so please stick with me!
Every month, we will have a school wide theme that we are addressing in our Advocacy classes. Advocacy (homeroom) is total of 45 minutes where teacher have an opportunity to do Social/Emotional teaching and learning. The theme for August is Starting Strong. All month long we will be relationship building, talking about how to work in groups and pairs, learning about problem solving and getting to know the rules and expectations of Kindergarten.
Each child went home with a Friday Folder. These folders will go home EVERY FRIDAY! Please take the stuff from the "Leave at home" side and keep it. Send back anything on the "Back to school" side. EVERY MONDAY, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE REMINDING YOUR CHILD TO BRING IT BACK EVERY MONDAY!
Share days are starting this week! Here are our days:

A couple reminders:
- Students are not allowed to bring hand sanitizer to school because it has alcohol in it. If they need to wash their hands, we have bathrooms, a pod sink, and non-alcoholic sanitizer by the door in each room.
- Carline procedure: You may stay in carline to pick up your Kindergartener. Please be patient! Carline will go faster as the year progresses. Please do not get out of your car. If your child needs helped being buckled, ask one of the teachers out there or pull all the way to the front of the line and park where the cones are (teachers are out there to help you find this area). If you wish to park your car and walk up, please do so in the north parking lot and walk around the building to pickup. This helps move carline along so no one is pulling out in front of cars trying to leave the building.
- Share days are going to be posted to this website and a printed copy will go home in Friday folders on teh 17th. Please help your child remember when their share day is and to bring one item to share. For the first week, students will share their All About Me bags.
