Advocacy - Mrs. Cundari

Course Description

Advocacy is our home base at school.  We spend time really getting to know each other and working on skills that are useful across the content areas.  We focus on habits of successful learners and social/emotional skills.  My goal is for my advocacy students to all feel like they have an adult in the building they can trust.  If they are struggling to advocate for themselves with another student or another teacher, they can come to me for support in handling the situation.  I am also a resource for parents with any school related questions or concerns.  If I can't answer I question right away, I will find answers or point you to the appropriate contact person.

A Challenge from Mrs. Valenza

For the entire month of February, Mrs. Valenza will make conscious and green choices to lessen her impact on the environment. If you catch Mrs. Valenza making an un-green choice you get to have an extra recess with her and the animals out at the coop sometime before Spring Break.

Mrs. Valenza’s challenge:

  • Turning off lights when she leaves a room
  • Using only 1 paper towel
  • Zero-waste lunch everyday
  • Only making double-sided copies
  • 50 copies per week maximum
  • Only use reusable coffee mugs and water bottles
  • Composting all leftover food

Scholastic Book Fair: February 4th- 8th
During lunch, we can send one student from each lass to go down to the book fair with a pass.  Before or after school, we ask that students have a parent or guardian with them to go to the Book Fair.

As a pod, each class will be visiting a place in our community to pass out cards.  We will be going to:
     AMI Offices (Cundari)
Sweet Pea Early Learning Center (Sanders)
Primrose School of Thornton and Shell (Dewar)
    DISH Call Center (Elwood)
