Hello!
Thank you for sending in all the wonderful pictures. They spent yesterday and today creating a timeline of their life! Next week I will give them an opportunity to share their timeline with the class, and then they will come home in the next few weeks. After presentations next week we will move into our short unit on traditions. We will look at personal traditions as well as differences in cultural traditions.

Timeline Pictures Reminder 10/18/18

Hello Westgate Families!
Just a quick reminder about our timeline project. This first unit in social studies is learning about the concept of history demonstrated through a timeline. If you would like to, your student may bring in 4-5 pictures that show big moments throughout their life. Please send your student with pictures that are 5 x 7 or smaller. Also, please be aware that these pictures will be glued onto another sheet of paper, and maybe cut to fit. I highly recommend that you have copies at home or even send in copies printed on computer paper. We started the project today so if you would like to send in pictures and have not, please do so tomorrow.  If your student is not able to bring in pictures, they can absolutely draw their pictures or use other resources. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Westgate Families!
This week in social studies we focused on American symbols. They explored the symbolism of the Statue of Liberty, the American flag as well at the "Star Spangled Banner". We will finish up our symbol unit next week with the symbolism of the Liberty Bell and the White House.

After the fall break this group of students will rotate back to science with Mrs. O'Brien for the first half of quarter 2.

Ms. Kowalski's Social Studies A

Hello Westgate Families!
This past week in social studies was short due to the holiday and the field trip. However, we were able to spend some time looking at the different American symbols. We mainly focused on the American flag and the Statue of Liberty.

This coming Monday we will switch social studies and science. This class will start science with Mrs. O'Brien and stay there for the remaining of the quarter. They will start social studies again after fall break.
