Week 2-Soccer Stations

Great work this week guys! I am so proud of the effort you all put forth this week on Workout Wednesday. It was so great to see everyone so determined to meet their goal and seemingly enjoy working out! See it can be a lot of FUN! These guys rocked it! We completed our soccer skill stations and next week we will putting these skills to work playing some soccer skill games. In health we talked what "Self-Esteem" is and how we can bring our self esteem up in many different ways. We talked about what makes us feel (happy, sad, worried, angry, proud, etc) and then we drew names out of a bucket and wrote that person a kindness letter and looked to see how it affected them. Needless to say there were some really nice cards and some really bright smiling faces ; )

Next week we will be starting our soccer skill games.

Keep it up!

Week 1

Great Job this week 3/4. We spent some time participating in various team building activities and really working to develop that strong sense of community within the PE classroom. On Thursday we learned about ChooseMyPlate guidelines and put together healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas that included all the food groups. Next week we will jump right into our soccer unit, on Wednesday we will get the heart rate monitors out and go through our workout stations. In health we will be talking about the importance of healthy relationships and writing appreciation letters to our peers.

Keep up the good work!

Parent Focus Group

Parents! THIS Thursday, September 6th, Amanda Novak and Generation Schools Network are hosting a Parent & Student Focus Group about topics such as bullying, social emotional learning, and more. Join us for meaningful conversation and DONUTS on Thursday morning from 8:15am-9:15am. We need your input - your voices matter!

Week 4-Handball

Great Job this week guys!. Great job the past four weeks. I really appreciate the effort you guys have put forth and the determination you have shown. I know some of the stuff we do in class is tough, but you guys pushed through and stayed focus taking it step by step. That is GRIT right there, knowing something is going to be difficult and pushing through regardless. I hope you recognize how important physical activity is for your health and have come away with a few tips/ideas of how YOU can stay healthy and active! We started some handball this week and it was really great seeing everyone work together and support one another during the game play. Keep up the good work and I look forward to having you back in class soon.

Week 3 3/4

Great job this week 3/4. This week we played some soccer skills games in which students were challenged to apply the skills we practiced in our soccer stations to a game like situation. We played some soccer bowling to show off our accuracy as well as played some line soccer which simulated a small sided soccer game. In health we talked about the importance of goal setting and self-esteem. On Wednesday the students were presented with a ladder workout and worked their way from the bottom up to achieve their heart rate goal of 20mins at 70-100% of their max heart rate. Nearly all students achieved their goal! Keep it up and remember that amazing feeling you got when you were finished.
