3/4 Week 1- 2/19-2/22

This week we will starting off with some teambuilding activities to get everyone comfortable working together with different classmates. We will be starting our dynamic stretching/warm up routine that we will do at the beginning of each class. We will also be starting the fastest class challenge. The 3/4 students will be competing against the 5/6 students to see which class can run the most laps by the end of our rotation.  In lieu of our workout on Wednesday, the students will be participating in a 10minute scooter workout. 
In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching. 

3/4 Week 5- 2/11-2/14

This week we will continue with our Tchoukball tournaments. We will also sneak in a few days of frisbee stations working on throwing with correct form and accuracy. In health we will be talking about positive mental attitude, what this is, how you can get it, and why it is important to happiness. For our workout the students will be designing their own and working to stay in the performance heart rate zone for 25minutes. 

3/4 Week 4- 3/11-3/15

This week students will be participating in our frisbee unit. Students will learn how to properly hold and throw the frisbee with accuracy. They will be working through various stations that challenge them to throw with correct form and accuracy. On Wednesday, the students will be doing a jump rope workout with a goal of 23minutes in the performance heart rate zone. In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching. Students will also be assessed for their knowledge of the daily dynamic stretching routine. 

3/4 Week 3- 1/28-2/1

This week we will be starting our jump rope unit. We will also be playing some small sided games of handball. In health we will be talking about growth mindset. The students will be exploring the various articles and reading ones that they find interesting. On workout Wednesday the students will be participating in a circuit workout with a goal of 23minutes at 70-100% of their max heart rate. Remember, Jump Rope for heart is going on let's be HEART HEROS! 

3/4 Week 2- 1/22-1/25

This week we will be starting our handball unit. The students will be participating in various strategy and catching and throwing games working to develop their hand eye coordination as well as their ability to throw to and catch a moving target. In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching and the many benefits that result from and injuries that are prevented by a good stretch.  On Wednesday, the students will be participating in a wild workout with a goal of 20minutes in the zone of 70-100% of their max heart rate. On Friday we will be playing a small sided handball tournament. 

3/4 Week 1- 1/14-1/18

This week we will starting off with some teambuilding activities to get everyone comfortable working together with different classmates. On Wednesday, Mile High Karate will be in class to put on a demonstration and teach the kids some karate basics while getting them excited for our Westgate Karate Club. In lieu of our workout on Wednesday, the students will be participating in a 10minute scooter workout. 
In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching. 

3/4 Week 4-12.10-12.14

This week we will be wrapping up our soccer unit. We will be playing a few last games of line soccer and then we will jump right into our handball unit. The students will participate in various activities to help develop their hand-eye coordination and then we will be playing some small sided, fast-paced handball games. In health the students will be taking their stretch test in which they are challenged to identify the major muscles groups and properly demonstrate the ability to stretch these muscles. Wednesday, the students will participate in a wild workout with a goal of 25mins at 70-100% of their max heart rate. Keep up the good work 3/4. 3/4 Week 3 12/3-12/7

This week we will be finishing up our soccer skills stations and begin our soccer skill games challenging the students to apply those skills we have been practicing in more of a game-like situation. The students will be participating in a friendly game of line soccer as well as soccer bowling. In health we will be talking about self-esteem and how you can help raise someones self-esteem. On Wednesday the students will be participating in our Tabata station workout with a goal of 25mins at 70-100% of their max heart rate.

3/4 Week 2-11/26-11/30

This week we will be continuing to build that sense of community and the students will be participating in various teambuilding activities. We will also be starting our soccer unit and the students will be working to develop their foundational soccer skills as they progress through the stations. On Thursday, we will start talking about eating healthy and how to make healthy food choices. We will introduce the ChoseMyPlate food guideline and the students will be challenged to put together healthy meals for themselves, that they would actually eat, and include all the food groups. On Wednesday the students will be participating in a Wild Workout with a heart rate goal of 25mins at 70-100% of their max heart rate. 

3/4 Week 1-11/13-11/16

Welcome to PE at Westgate. Our first week, we will spend time building a healthy classroom community by participating in several teambuilding activities that will challenge students to step outside of their comfort zone and to work with different classmates. We will participating in Workout Wendnesday and in health they will be learning about recognizing their emotions and learning about why we have these emotions. 

Oct 29th-Nov 2th

Great job this week 3/4. We continued our soccer unit and played several games of Line Soccer in which the students were challenged to apply those skills we have been working on in our stations rotation into a more gamelike situation. In health we talked about the importance of setting goals and how that can affect our self-esteem. For our workout the students participated in our Tabata stations and had a goal of 23mins in the zone. Next week we will be starting our handball unit and playing some more Line Soccer. 

Week 2

Great work this week guys! I am so proud of the effort you all put forth this week on Workout Wednesday. It was so great to see everyone so determined to meet their goal and seemingly enjoy working out! See it can be a lot of FUN! These guys rocked it! We completed our soccer skill stations and next week we will putting these skills to work playing some soccer skill games. In health we talked what "Self-Esteem" is and how we can bring our self esteem up in many different ways. We talked about what makes us feel (happy, sad, worried, angry, proud, etc) and then we drew names out of a bucket and wrote that person a kindness letter and looked to see how it affected them. Needless to say there were some really nice cards and some really bright smiling faces ; )
 
Next week we will be starting our soccer skill games and Handball!

3/4 Week 1

Great Job this week 3/4. We spent some time participating in various team building activities and really working to develop that strong sense of community within the PE classroom. On Thursday we learned about ChooseMyPlate guidelines and put together healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas that included all the food groups. Next week we will jump right into our soccer unit, on Wednesday we will get the heart rate monitors out and go through our workout stations. In health we will be talking about the importance of healthy relationships and writing appreciation letters to our peers.

Week 3-Soccer

Great job this week 3/4. This week we continued our soccer unit and played several soccer skill games in which the students were challenged to apply the skills we had been practicing in our stations in more of a game like situation. On Wednesday the students participated in one of our TABATA station workouts and we had nearly every student reaching their 20min 70-100% of max heart rate goal! You guys should be very proud of yourselves. On Thursday we began talking about Self-Esteem and goal setting. We talked about the importance of setting goals and how achieving your goal affects your self-esteem. Next week we will begin our handball unit that we will be continuing when they return of the next rotation.
