This week, we will review the songs we've learned this year.  There will be lots of freeze dance and they will have the opportunity to play on the drum sets, the pianos/keyboards, and the large xylophone.

This week, we will be working on reading and playing quarter notes and eighth notes with quarter note rests.

 

They will use hand drums and marimbas.

 

We will then review "Hot Cross Buns", "Twinkle Twinkle", and "Merrily We Roll Along" on the marimbas.

This week, we will play the marimbas, reviewing how to hold the mallets, how to strike the bars, and playing Hot Cross Buns.

 

We will be using hand drums to read and play rhythms written on the board.  

Rhythms will include half notes and rests, quarter notes and rests, and eighth notes.

Welcome back!

 

This week, students will be learning how to play "Hot Cross Buns" on the marimbas and xylophones.

 

This will include learning quarter notes, quarter rests, and the notes E, D, and C on the xylophone.

 

They will learn how to properly hold mallets and how to strike the marimba/xylophone.

This first week of music, students will be singing and dancing to some autumn songs.  They will do a review of hand drums and rhythms and, by the end of the week, will move to marimbas.  

 

They will be using their knowledge of rhythms to play "hot cross buns" this week.

This week we will continue learning songs on marimba/xylophone.

 

Twinkle twinkle is the song we're practicing right now.  This song teaches "skips", "steps" and quarter notes and rests.

 

 

This week, we'll be learning more on the marimbas. 

 

We've played, "Hot Cross Buns" and "Merrily We Roll Along" the past two weeks. 

 

We'll start "Twinkle, Twinkle" this week.

 

 

This week in music, the 1st and 2nd graders will be continuing some of our Halloween songs.  

 

We have been working on playing "Hot Cross Buns" on the marimbas/xylophones.  We're learning 3 notes (E, D, and C).  Also, eighth note and quarter note rhythms.

 

Next week, we will begin work on "Twinkle Twinkle" on the marimbas/xylophones.
