Over the past two weeks, students have learned about their role in the community and how individuals can make a positive difference. We explored what it means to be a responsible citizen by showing respect, listening to different viewpoints, working together, and taking action to improve our school and community. Students also learned about civic responsibilities, positive leadership, and how people can advocate for ideas in respectful and effective ways. On Tuesday, we will wrap up our learning with our final lesson, and on Wednesday, students will take the unit post-test.
On Thursday, we will begin a new geography unit, “How Geographers Talk About the World.” Throughout this unit, students will explore how maps and globes help us understand the world around us. They will learn to use important map tools such as map keys, legends, symbols, compass roses, and cardinal directions to locate and describe places. Students will also discover the purpose of different types of maps and learn to identify natural, human, and political features. This unit will help students build a strong foundation in geography while developing important map-reading skills.
