Outdoor ED information

Hello, 5/6 Families!

In 6 days, payment is due for the Outdoor Education Trip. Please do not delay in getting payment submitted via the payment portal, cash, or check (made out to Westgate Community School). I will send another reminder on Friday. 🙂

If payment is not received by August 17th at 11:59pm, your student will not be able to attend the trip and will stay at Westgate for alternative programming. If you can pay now, please do so! Thank you to those who have paid already.

Please ensure that the following pieces are completed by Monday--
  1. Complete the Westgate Permission Slip form linked here. (Even if you do not want your student to attend, please complete this permission slip.)
  2. Fill out, and send to your physician, any required medication/allergy forms that will help us keep your student safe and return to Nurse Hopson (linked here and downloadable using the left blue buttons). If your student already has medications and forms completed in the school health office, you don't need to take any further action.
  3. Submit payment of $340 for the trip either online through our payment portal or drop off cash or check at the front desk. Ensure your student's name is on the memo or on the envelope.

Thank you so much, and we are so excited to go on this trip!

Outdoor ED

Hello!

I hope you're having a great week so far!

I am reaching out with a time-sensitive request. I spoke with Keystone Science School and we need to confirm numbers. The program needs to know if they have to hire another field instructor for our group.

REQUIRED ACTION: If you have not yet filled out the permission slip for outdoor ed, I ask that you please complete this form no later than this Friday, 8/7/26 by 9am.

You do not need to have payment ready by Friday. You can still wait to pay until August 17th. The form will ask if you plan to send your student to the trip or have them stay back. All families MUST complete this form.

If you have already filled it out, no further action is required. Thank you.

As of right now, we have 41 responses, but still need a lot more to verify if you are sending your student to outdoor ed.

Thank you again, and I'll send more reminder emails about payment and logistics next week!

Welcome Back! Classroom Allergies

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone had an amazing summer! I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you.

I want to share an important policy regarding allergies in our classroom. Several students, including myself, have airborne food allergies. We cannot have any food, drink, or products that contain any type of nuts (peanuts, tree nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, coconuts, cashews, or any other possible nut) in our room.

Due to the severity of these allergies, please refrain from bringing any lotions, deodorants, or sprays, as they may contain these ingredients and cannot be safely checked. Additionally, please avoid using coconut oil in your child's hair before a school night, as it can trigger an allergic reaction.

In class, only water should be brought as a drink. For lunches, please check all ingredients to ensure they do not contain nuts or coconut products.

Please reach out ahead of time if there is a nut product in your child's lunch. This gives me the opportunity to move them to a safe place for lunch with them discovering their nut product in my room.

I will be emailing home when surprise nut products are found in lunches and snacks.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. My goal is to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone throughout the year.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Best regards,

Mrs. Lounsbury
