Request to Keep Classroom Free of ChapStick, Lip Products, and Lotions

Hello,
 
Thank you for your help keeping our classroom safe. Please ensure that no make-up, ChapStick, lip gloss, or lotion is brought into my classroom. These items do not list allergens, and we have had two incidents where lip products caused allergic reactions. For the safety of students and staff with allergies, please do not allow these items in the classroom.

This week students will be learning about the rock cycle. They will also be learning about different types of plate boundaries. They will then reflect on their investigation about Earthquakes in Oklahoma and decide if their initial claim was reasonable.

This week in science students are discovering how weathering, erosion and deposition shape our Earth's surface. They have been thinking about how Hawaii's islands were formed.

This week we are starting our third science Unit, Dynamic Earth. We will be focusing on the geologic changes to the Earth's surface processes. We will be using the formation of Hawaiian Islands to help guide our understanding in crist changes.

Welcome Back! Classroom Allergies

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone had an amazing summer! I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you.

I want to share an important policy regarding allergies in our classroom. Several students, including myself, have airborne food allergies. We cannot have any food, drink, or products that contain any type of nuts (peanuts, tree nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, coconuts, cashews, or any other possible nut) or bananas in our room.

Due to the severity of these allergies, please refrain from bringing any lotions, deodorants, or sprays, as they may contain these ingredients and cannot be safely checked. Additionally, please avoid using coconut oil in your child's hair before a school night, as it can trigger an allergic reaction.

In class, only water should be brought as a drink. For lunches, please check all ingredients to ensure they do not contain nuts, coconut, or banana products.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. My goal is to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone throughout the year.
