• We will finish and present our student-created posters about natural disasters.
• Throughout the week we will begin learning about the scientific method and start discussing the upcoming Science Fair (project expectations and timelines).

Please encourage your child to practice explaining their poster at home — it helps build confidence for presentations. Contact me with any questions about the Science Fair.

This week in Science, we will be finishing our Weather and Climate unit. We’ll explore topics like predicting weather using clouds, understanding why the wind blows, different climate zones, extreme weather events, and how extreme weather affects people.

This week in Science, students will take a quiz on Lessons 1–6 on Monday. The quiz is online and includes audio support for students who need questions read aloud. On Tuesday, we will have a service learning activity with Mrs. Khan, where students will go outside to collect leaves for the goats and chickens and discuss the importance of this task. We will also begin making a water cycle box and start Lesson 7, exploring the question: Can clouds predict the weather? Please note, there will be no science on Friday due to our Halloween party.

This week, we’re exploring important questions about the natural world! Students will learn: What are seasons? How do we measure temperature? Why is there water in the air? These topics help us understand weather and climate better. On Friday, we will review lessons 1–6 to prepare for our mid-unit quiz.

How You Can Support at Home

Encourage your child to share what they’ve learned and ask questions about the weather you observe together. Discussing these ideas helps deepen their understanding.

In science this week, we are learning how to measure weather by exploring different tools used for weather observation. Students will research instruments like thermometers, rain gauges, and wind vanes to understand how they help us track weather conditions. We will also be discussing the four seasons and how weather changes throughout the year.

This week is full of hands-on learning! On Monday, we have our field trip. Tuesday, we’ll finish building our ramps, and on Wednesday, we’ll test them to see how they work. After that, we’ll begin an exciting new unit on weather and climate.

This week in science, we will be learning about electric force and electromagnets. On Thursday and Friday, we will spend time reviewing the material in preparation for our test next week. I am working on getting the test set up online via Teams so that students who need assistance can have the questions read to them

This week we will have a quiz on Lessons 1–6 to review what we’ve learned so far. After that, we’ll dive into Lessons 7–9, exploring exciting questions like: Can we predict motion? What is magnetism? and Can magnets pass through materials?

On Friday, students will get hands-on experience by exploring magnets through fun activities.

This week in Science, we will be learning about gravity, friction, and air resistance—key forces that affect how things move. Please note, I will not be here on Wednesday for science class.

On Friday, we will review all the material to prepare for a quiz next week covering lessons 1 through 6.

We will be starting our service learning lessons, this will be once a week and will switch off between Science and Social Studies.
