Hi Parents
I cannot believe that this was my last full week with your students! As a reminder my last day is May 21st. This conflict was a trip I had already planned 😊 I am so excited to return next year!
Reminder for the end of year carnival! Your students should have gone home with a flyer today about it all as well. Our pod's theme is Taco Tuesday & Backyard Barbeque.
In science this week we created our Passion Project Posters and presented the to the class. This project was super fun to see what each student was interested in. The topics ranged from learning why spice is spicy? To the basics of chemistry! These posters will be on display for the Parent Showcase afternoon in a few weeks.
Before I leave next week, we will be going out to help Mrs. Charlie in the farm. As well as heading to the aquarium to explore! 😊
I am so proud of your students and the growth they have made! It has truly been such a joy teaching your students. They are all wonderful people, and I can’t wait for them to change the world someday.

Hi Parents!
I hope you all had a fantastic week. I cannot believe it’s already May. Just a reminder that I will be with your students until May 21st.
Reminders:
- Please fill out the permission slip for the Denver Aquarium field trip on May 21st.
- The end of the year 5/6 Carnival Basket theme is backyard Barbeque and Taco Tuesday. Please have your student drop off donations to the front office labeled for “5/6”
Last week in science we finalized our unit on “What makes a planet habitable?” Students presented their planets and their ideas to the class. Many of them shared they enjoyed the creativity aspect of this project.
This week we started a "passion project" where students have been able to research a science topic of their choice. Next week, we will be making these into posters and doing a gallery walk to see all the information we found. :)
Hi all,
I apologize for not posting last week. Your students did a fantastic job with CMAS, I am so proud of them! This week we completed our MAPS testing. If your student missed Thursday or Friday this week they will make it up next week.
We have earth week celebrations next week. A reminder to send your student with close toed shoes and an extra snack on Tuesday April 29th. We will be having outdoor education from 12:45-3:00
If you have not done so yet, please fill out this permission slip below no later than April 29th. We will be doing a Global Clean up day on May 2nd.

Finaly, the 5/6 pod has chosen our theme for the end of year carnival! It is a Taco Tuesday/ Backyard barbeque basket. If your family has anything they would like to donate please have your student leave it at the front desk labeled for the 5/6 basket. There is also an amazon wish list where Miss. Calder added some items. I will send that link out ASAP.
Now into the academics 😊
In Science we have been learning and understanding what makes a planet habitable. The students are now doing research on this and creating their own planet (within our solar system) that could sustain life. Students are able to be creative to make a model of their planet. I have air dry clay, paper and other materials for them to use in class to use. Next week, students will practice their presentation skills and sharing their ideas with the class. We will then be doing a class vote on which planet we would like to live on, and that will become our class planet for the remainder of the year.
Thank you for the continued support!

Hi Parents! Happy April, I can’t believe we’re nearly half way through the month already!
Science this week we finished up our “What planet would we send our rover to?” lesson. We used flashlights to understand how the sun hits each planet and identify what makes a planet habitable. Today we started looking at gravity and how high our jumps would be on other planets. This is all part of a greater unit about stars and planets. The goal is to have your students gain curiosity about our solar system. Science will be normal time next week!

Hi Parents,
This week for science was a bit wonky because we had a number of different activities that took over science time. However, your students became fully prepared for Young Ameritowne this week. On Thursday we visited the ¾ pod to check out their science fair projects.
After break we will be exploring what makes a planet habitable. Students will create their own solar systems and decide which planets would be best to live on.
Thank you for your continued support! I’m excited to get back to science after break. Have a good one!

Week of March 17-21
Our new science unit will be “Patterns in our Solar System”. Next week your students will observe, ask questions, and begin to explore these patterns in the night sky. We will also be doing a small amount of extra prep for our field trip along with one more CMAS practice.
