Ms. O'Leary, Advocacy, 5/6

Posts

Hi all,

I apologize for not posting last week. Your students did a fantastic job with CMAS, I am so proud of them! This week we completed our MAPS testing. If your student missed Thursday or Friday this week, they will make it up next week.

We have focused on Social Awareness this month. Our classroom goals are:

  • Pausing and not interrupting the speaker
  • Keeping our things in our space and pushing our chair in when we stand up.
  • Keeping our words positive to each other.

We have earth week celebrations next week. A reminder to send your student with close-toed shoes and an extra snack on Tuesday April 29th. We will be having outdoor education from 12:45-3:00

If you have not done so yet, please fill out this permission slip below no later than April 29th. We will be doing a Global Clean up day on May 2nd.

Finaly, the 5/6 pod has chosen our theme for the end of year carnival! It is a Taco Tuesday/ Backyard barbeque basket. If your family has anything they would like to donate please have your student leave it at the front desk labeled for the 5/6 basket. There is also an amazon wish list where Miss. Calder added some items. I will send that link out ASAP.

Thank you for the continued support!

Correction: Earth Week at School (Tuesday 4/29)

Hi all!
Apologies, I had read the date wrong. Our earth day outside will take place on Tuesday April 29th. Thank you for understanding and sorry for any confusion this caused!
In celebration of Westgate's Earth Week, we're excited to take our learning outside! On 4/29 from 12:45-3:00, students will participate in a series of engaging environmental education activities.

To help your students have a successful and comfortable day, please send them with the following items:
- Close toes shoes
- An extra snack
- A filled reusable water bottle
-Optional: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses

Students will have the opportunity to explore and learn about our school's goats, chickens and bees, take part in an outdoor scavenger hunt, and contribute to a collaborative chalk and mural project. We're looking forward to a fun, hands-on day celebrating the environment together

Hi Parents! Happy April, I can’t believe we’re nearly half way through the month already!

Advocacy this week was a chance for the students to go outside to have a second recess given they missed out on their specials time because of CMAS.

The theme for April is Social Awareness. We will have different discussions and activities throughout the next few weeks.

Today, your students took a moment to decide which self care strategy they would focus on this weekend to recharge after testing this week.

It has continued to be a joy getting to know your students. Thank you for all your hard work.

Advocacy

Hi Parents,

I hope you have all had a fantastic week. This week has been busy but filled with lots of fun things! Young Ameritowne, Platte River & Cultural fair-- wooo!

This week your students finalized and presented their cultural fair projects. They were so wonderful during this and the feedback we have gotten from other teachers and students has been fantastic. We are so proud of them for their hard work! Yesterday, we wrote cards of encouragement for Mr. Baker's Kindergarten class. We will deliver these after break and spend some time reading with them.

When we return from break it will be testing time! During advocacy for the first week, we will be taking the students outside for an extra recess to replace missed special time.

I appreciate your students so much! Thank you for all your hard work as well. Enjoy Spring break. :)
