4/28-5/2

We are continuing to work on our Night of the Notables project. This week, we are completing our biography research outline. If this is not finished on Friday, students will be bringing it home.

4/21-4/25

We will continue our Night of the Notables project by learning about influential people born in Colorado or who have made a large impact in Colorado. Students will be given a list of choices for their project, but they have the option to come up with a person, too. They will write a research proposal with reasons why the person they want to choose is notable and a good person to research.

SSB: Students are going to continue to practice researching for biographies. They will work with their partners (or individually) to learn about a person that is important to them/famous. They will present what they learned on a mini poster. This is due Tuesday.

CMAS Practice Email That Would Not Send

Hi all,

On Thursday, I sent your student home with a blue or purple folder containing practice materials for math, reading, writing, and social studies. While this work is not required, I highly recommend it, as we will begin CMAS testing immediately after spring break. I have also attached the materials to this email in case the folder happens to disappear from their backpacks.

Practice CMAS exams. In class, we have been working on using the tools provided in the test and navigating it effectively. We also discussed bookmarking writing sections to avoid surprises when they appear in the language arts test.

I understand that jumping into testing right after the break can feel daunting, but we are doing everything we can to create a positive and stress-free testing environment. themselves, that is all that matters. I've been reminding students that a single test does not define their abilities or who they are. What truly matters is that they put forth their best effort, showcase what they've learned, and believe in themselves. At home, please encourage your student to get a good night's sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast to set them up for success.

I hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break!

CMAS Online Practice:

3/17-3/21

This week, we are focusing on CMAS preparation and review. Students will practice navigating the test, managing their time effectively, and recalling important information from memory.

At the end of the week, you will receive an email with resources and activities to help your student prepare over spring break. I will also be sending home optional practice work, which I highly recommend reviewing to ensure they are ready to dive into testing.

3/10-3/14

On Monday, we will finish up our lesson on Bent's Fort. Then, we have a special guest, Dr. John Matsushima, coming to speak to our class on Tuesday. We spend the week learning many things from this special guest, specifically about his success raising cattle and growing corn in Colorado. Ms. Charlie will be leading these lessons.

3/3-3/5

This week we are finishing our unit on Kit Carson, Mountain Men, and Fur Trappers. Students will learn about the colonizer's interactions with local tribes and the impact on the environment.

2/24-2/28
