We are still working in Module 3, "Rise to the Occasion." The essential question of this unit is: "What does it take to meet a challenge?". We are continuing to read "Catch Me If You Can" and "My Diary from Here to There". Students are also continuing to read "Save Me A Seat".
 
We will begin our Avatar opinion writing.

11/18-11/22

We are working in Module 3, "Rise to the Occasion." The essential question of this unit is: "What does it take to meet a challenge?". We are working on expository essays about how animals and humans use their senses to survive. Students will finish their work with "Hurricanes: Force of Nature" and "Catch Me If You Can". Students are also continuing to read "Save Me A Seat".
 
Our literacy circles this week focus on figurative language, authors purpose, and silent e.

11/12-11/15

We are working in Module 3, "Rise to the Occasion." The essential question of this unit is: "What does it take to meet a challenge?". We are working on expository essays about how animals and humans use their senses to survive. Students will finish their work with "Rent Party Jazz" and transition to "Hurricanes: A Force of Nature / Catch Me If You Can". Students are also continuing to read "Save Me A Seat".
 
Our literacy circles this week focus on figurative language, theme, and vowel sounds with the letter o.

We are working in Module 3, "Rise to the Occasion." The essential question of this unit is: "What does it take to meet a challenge?". We are working on expository essays about how animals and humans use their senses to survive. Once this are finished, we will move on to argumentative essays about Avatar. Students are also continuing to read "Save Me A Seat".

10/28-11/1

We are working in Module 3, "Rise to the Occasion." The essential question of this unit is: "What does it take to meet a challenge?". We will start with watching "Rise Up", about facing big challenges in life and school. As a bonus, this unit focuses heavily on teamwork and communication skills. Students will be writing expository and argumentative essays. Our argumentative essay will be about Avatar.
 
Our literacy circles this week focus on verbs (linking, action, helping, etc.). 

10/21-10/25

This week, we are finishing up reading "The Game of Silence" and answering questions related to our senses. Then, we are transitioning into Module 3, "Rise to the Occasion." The essential question of this unit is: "What does it take to meet a challenge?". We will start with watching "Rise Up", about facing big challenges in life and school.
 
As a bonus, this unit focuses heavily on teamwork and communication skils.

10/14-10/18

We are continuing our work in Module 2, "come to your senses". In this unit, we will answer the essential question, "How do people and animals use their senses to navigate the world?".  We are reading "Blind Ambition" and "The Game of Silence".
 
Students will learn about writing and reading informational texts. It allows students to identify central ideas, text and graphic features, and media techniques to better understand unfamiliar texts. Students will also encounter a personal narrative and historical fiction to build knowledge across genres.
 

We are also hoping to finish reading our class book "The Wild Robot" in the next few weeks so we can start our next book called "Save Me a Seat".
