Writing prompt (brainstorm for 5 minutes, write for 13 minutes), multiple meaning words, context clues to solve words, finish reading Why Is the Statue of Liberty Green? then take quiz, Central/ main idea and supporting details, commas in a series, abstract and concrete nouns, do first, second, and third paragraphs in descriptive writing, part one of module assessment, and games for Halloween
What are we doing?
We are working on figuring out words using context clues, words with multiple meanings, commas in a series of nouns, text features in non-fiction texts, vocabulary related to our readings, reading the story Flag Maker, we will take a quiz on this, and finally we will be working on our new writing which is a descriptive essay.
The descriptive essay will be them describing their favorite place and what they do at that place. It can be grandma’s house, the zoo, the mall, or anywhere they have been.
What are we doing?
We will start module 3, this has a lot to do with American History and we will be reading historical texts. During this week we will be talking about the author’s purpose and using evidence to support why that is the author's purpose.

What are we doing this week?
We will be reading a new story called Dear Primo and working on telling the beginning, middle, and end of a story. We will be taking a quiz on Dear Primo on Thursday. We will also be talking about synonyms and antonyms. Finishing up our writing and then we will go over new vocabulary words.
What are we doing this week?
We have a busy week in Language Arts! We have DIBELS testing this whole week, or until I get everyone tested.
We will be going over long vowel sounds. We will be reading Scaredy Squirrel and going over literary elements, point of view, theme, and test and graphic features. We will also be learning new vocabulary words and using context clues in the text to figure out the meaning of the words. Students will learn about the types of sentences. Finally, they will be working on their draft and final draft for their personal narrative stories.
Things you can do at home: Read at least 20 minutes each day/night
What are we doing this week?
Read Judy Moody and talk about character traits, writing about the story we read, common and proper nouns, verbs, introduce what figurative language is and find it in the story. We will also be brainstorming for our personal narrative writing; students will answer questions pertaining to the story they want to write about and then converse with a peer and the peer with give feedback.
Working on the great mail race, the great mail race is where each student picks a random school in the state of their choice and writes them a letter telling them all about our school. This gives students the opportunity to learn how to write a letter, how to address and write a letter, and hopefully they will get a letter back from the school they write to.
Monday: Working on short vowel sounds, reading Marisol McDonald Doesn't Match and making predictions about the story.
Tuesday: Point of View (First and Third person) and Literary Elements for the story read on Monday, parts of a paragraph
Wednesday: Context Clues to figure out unknown words, Prefixes (mis- and un-), Literary Elements and Point of View with a new story, and theme and talking about personal narratives for our first writing.
Thursday: MAPS Reading
Friday: Common and Proper Nouns, subject and predicates, Theme of a story, and handwriting. We will also start brainstorming for our personal narratives.
