Tuesday we have a 3rd Grade only field trip 

 

Working on our review packets, as a table students will review skills we have learned this school year. Reading the story Compay Mono and Comay Jicotea and will take a quiz on this story. Students will also use this story to practice retelling stories. We will be learning prepositions and reviewing all parts of speech. We will also be reviewing author's purpose

Module assessment on the computer ( this will be shown at conferences), introducing our new module about inventors, comparing and contrasting, finishing up our expository essays, and continuing to work on main idea and supporting details. 

Reading a historical fiction story and taking a quiz on the story, comparative adverbs, reviewing adverbs and verbs, expository essay, vocabulary, contractions, and chronological order. 

We will be going over vocabulary, reading a new story ( a biography) and taking a quiz on it, combining sentences, using context clues to figure out work, and figurative language. 

Reading a non fiction story on octopuses and taking a quiz on this story. Students will also be reviewing singular and plural nouns and verbs. This week we will also be finishing up our graphic organizer for our expository essays and I will be conferencing with them about their essays. We will also be going over text features, figurative language, authors purpose, and main idea and supporting details. 

Finishing up DIBELS testing, starting our expository essays, text features, read "This is your Life Cycle" and take comprehension quiz on it, and we will be learning new figurative language. Reviewing nouns (common, proper, singular, and plural) prefixes (uni-, bi-, and tri-)

Working on our narrative fiction writing, figurative language, reading a new story Brothers At Bat. We will take a quiz on this story, working on contractions, verbs, nouns, and adjectives. All these skills will be reinforced in Literacy centers this week.

Consonant diagraphs, readers theatre performances ( for our class only, this is a little test run to see how it goes I plan on doing another in the future where parents will be allowed to come and watch, this will be in the spring so we can be outside for it) , character traits, text features, plot of a story and using this to write our fictional narrative stories, and we will be taking our module test in 3 separate parts this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 

What are we doing? 

Suffixes –er/-or and how it changes what the word means, using context clues to figure out unknown words, irregular plural nouns, Narrative writing specifically working on characters, their traits, and the setting of our stories, story maps for stories. We will also be reading the play Two Bear Cubs.
