April Advocacy Update
April Advocacy Focus
In April, we are focusing on social awareness. Our book of the month is "We are Here". Social awareness involves recognizing that people have different feelings and thoughts, and that these can be influenced by their experiences, culture, and background.
We will be working on these skills in advocacy and throughout our academic classes:
- Empathy
- Social Cues
- Repsect
- Inclusivity
- Developing Social Skills
Students will learn how to use empathy and respect to understand someone else in a social situation. Students will help create and understand the importance of inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and understood. They will learn about social awareness, including reading body language and tone of voice, to better understand social situations. Learning about social awareness will help students develop important social skills such as active listening, conflict resolution, and building positive relationships.
