August 29 - September 1

  Monday through Friday we will be on our Outdoor Education adventure.
Thursday we will review exponents and order of operation to show knowledge of these skills by taking a quiz to show mastery.  There will be No School on Friday so I hope that you all enjoy your long weekend!

August 22-26

This week we will be focusing on the Order of Operations, PEMDAS. I will be using the Mnemonic, Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally; Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction.  This lesson will be modeled and practiced throughout the course of the week before I check for understanding will be given. 
 
We tried a couple of times to get everyone logged into the Big Ideas program so students could access this program at home if they so chose to do so.  We were partially successful.  I believe that I have figured out and we try to get everyone logged into the program over the course of next week.. 

August 15-19

Welcome to 6th Grade Math!
 
We will be switch into our specific Math class.
To begin we will learn expectations and routines for  Math class. 
 
Throughout the course of the year, we will look be studying numerical expressions and factors, fractions and decimals, ratios and rates, percent, algebraic expressions and properties, equations, area, surface area and volume, integers, number lines and coordinate plane, statistical measures and data displays.  This material will be delivered through the textbook and computer. More explanation to come as we travel through the school year. 
 
Focus for the Week:
  We will be practicing expectations and routines for the class to move smoothly. The math skill we will start with is exponents and powers.
